i have some questions on the pre-major of Econ&Acct in UCSB
UCSB states that
In order to qualify for admission into the Economics and Accounting major, students must complete Economics 1, 2, 3A, 3B and 10A with a UC grade-point average of 2.85 or above. No grade lower than C in pre-major courses will be accepted. In addition, students must complete PSTAT 5E, Math 34A-B, and Writing 105AA-ZZ or 107AA-ZZ or 109AA-ZZ with a grade of C or higher; the grades in these courses will not be used in computing the pre-major GPA but will apply to the overall major GPA.

The problem is my college do not have any course articulated to the Economic 10A and writing courses in UCSB. What should I do after applying to UCSB?

The other problem is my pre-major grades. I got a B in my microeconomics class. Will it affect much on my way to UCSB?

Thanks for your answers

So, technically, if you finish your pre-requisites at your community college and transfer to UCSB; you will be admitted to Economic emphasizing Accounting pre-major. In order for you to enter as a full-time major, you have to complete the rest of the pre-requisites only available at UCSB.

if I enroll in UCSB, i must spend at least one quarter on the pre-major. Can I take other courses instead of the pre-major courses?

^^Yes, you can. I’m planning on transferring to UCSB too!

Thanks for the information lawlking. I was concern about that too. I also heard transfer students must get at least a B in the economic class that is not offered at any CC.

You have to get a C or better but having A’s and B’s will make you more competitive when it comes to admissions, LAWLKING what major did you apply for?

^^My major is sociology. Any of you guys planning to take summer transition? I’m planning to; so I can start ahead and meet new people.

You have to get a solid B in 10A when you get to UCSB. Because you need to have a 2.85 UC GPA in economics prereqs, this course will entirely determine that grade. I know people who got a B- in that class after having done all the other courses at a CC and they were not allowed into the major.

Cool… Ya if i choose to go imma do the summer transitions as well.
