I originally thought UCSB was a pretty good school but lately I have been having second thoughts. I have come to this conclusion because I have heard that lately UCSB has been letting in transfer students with a 2.9 and this semester this guys told me that the gpa now went down to a 2.6! Well I wanted to ask you guys how true these claims are plus how good is UCSB academically.
Thanks,
Capuchin

I don't think that's true in my case. I got rejected for witner with a 2.92 gpa at that time even though i have 3.0+ now. i don't think it's true, maybe that applicant that have made it in with 2.6~2.9 have something really good in their application, let say work full time. After all, in 2006, the average gpa for transfer studetns that made it to uc was a 3.1 (of course varies from uc and majors.)

Sigh... there's a few things about your post:

1) You shouldn't be selecting a school based on what the minimum GPA is. You should select a school you want to go to.

2) The minimum GPA to sign a transfer agreement in the College of Letters & Sciences is 3.0. The minimum GPA to apply as a regular transfer are listed here:

And a word of advice, always look at official sources rather than trusting "a friend".

rc251, your right. Thanks for the advice.
