@StevenToCollege I’m assuming it has to do with historical yield and how much each campus has put towards supporting the program (This determine how many scholarships they expect to support). I know UCSB is 6000$. How much is UCI? (I didn’t apply there).
I couldn’t tell you the answer honestly.
@QwertyuiopPro
I couldn’t exactly remember. But I think it’s $5,000 per year.
So has the unofficial admittance reflected a change in status for the UCSB Admissions Portal? Mine still displays “Decision Pending”. Looks like we still have to wait until the 16th, eh?
To anyone wondering how they identified Reagents, their name tag had a Reagents Ribbon attached onto it.
@QwertyuiopPro
UCI Regents scholarship is $2500 per year.
At UCSB it’s $6000/year. It varies by campus. It’s $2500 at UCLA and Berkeley and ~$2000 at Davis and SD.
I looked again at the Regents packet and realized that D should have received a separate invitation to the local reception; the cover letter explicitly refers to the reception and states that they are looking forward to meeting us at the local reception and that we will receive that information under separate cover. For whatever reason, the invitation never made it.
I think Regents at UC Davis was $7500 per year last year.
That’s the total number. UCSB offers $6000 year to a total of $24,000. It’s very generous.
I think the total amount is $30,000.
“The current honorarium award is $7,500, disbursed over three quarters.” (A school year has 3 quarters).
“The Regents Scholarship covers twelve quarters of undergraduate study for freshman recipients and six quarters for transfer recipients with junior-level standing. The honorarium is awarded annually through the duration of the scholarship”
Hi!! I live in New York about an hour away from the city and got one of these invitations yesterday. Do we know if that means I got in or have a better chance of getting in than I would’ve if I hadn’t gotten one? I’m really confused and super anxious
please help!!!
Yes you are like 99.9% chance of being in, congrats ^^
I was checking out UIUC over the weekend, so I was wondering what happened at the reception haha. I’m glad to hear that the engineering majors at the SJ reception got into their first choices; I’m finally a UC admit!!
@StevenToCollege It was great! The engineering program there is astounding in terms of undergraduate opportunities for interdisciplinary research and careers/internships/co-ops. The professors also seem very approachable! The one thing that wasn’t so great was the weather. It was quite gloomy
@StevenToCollege I actually got a scholarship; I’m very fortunate in that respect! Compared to other schools, UIUC doesn’t seem to offer very many scholarships beyond the ones that they offer to incoming freshman
I would try to look into departmental scholarships for current students if cost is a significant issue for you. Good luck! Keep in mind that the UCs are excellent and affordable choices for engineering if you’re in-state
It means your in. I went to the reception in San Jose and they told everyone there that we’re in with our first choice major.
@imthereal
I think my son also got scholarship from UIUC. But I don’t think it’s anything that would convince him to go to UIUC over UCSB.
@StevenToCollege It’s definitely your son’s choice, and both are top-tier schools! Just make sure to search around the forums, ask students and faculty questions, and feel the campus vibes for all of his main options.
@BayStudent I’m really glad! Thanks for confirming
