Hi all, I just notified that I am offered the regents scholarship at UCSB. Does any current, future, or prospective student have any information on whether this is correlated to a UC Berkeley or UCLA acceptance?
@jundog I don’t think it means that you are accepted to UC Berkeley or UCLA because all of UC schools have their individual systems for admission. It is great that you are offered to receive the regents from UCSB though. However, all UC colleges are independent, so sorry to say this, but it doesn’t indicate your acceptance to Berkeley or UCLA. But that does not mean you will not be accepted to either/both colleges though. So good luck!
I wasn’t asking if it was a guarantee of acceptance, but rather if it was any sort of strong indicator based on others who have gotten into UCB and UCLA who had also received a regents scholarship from UCSB. E.g. I’m looking to see if there’s a regent scholar at UCSB who got REJECTED from any of these schools.
I’m sorry that I misunderstood your point. But isn’t it impossible to compare different schools? Having the best ACT/SAT score, taking the most challenging classes, or having the highest GPA don’t always guarantee your admission to UCB or UCLA. I heard that these two schools happen to choose students from a variety. I feel like it depends. I will just leave this off. Why don’t you post this question to either UCB or UCLA post for class of 2020? Other people will help you out more than what I can do for you.
Don’t know if this would help but I got regents and also received regents invite for LA and Berkeley
I know a student who got UCSB regents and was rejected from UCLA and UCB two years ago.
Two years ago, my daughter was offered Regents at both UCSB and Davis. She was offered honors at Irvine, accepted at UCLA & UCSD, but rejected at Berkeley. She applied as a bio- or chemical engineering major at all schools. I believe the engineering major (super-competitive) was the reason she didn’t get into Berkeley. Hope this helps.
My daughter (engineering major) got an early acceptance and was invited to interview for regents at Berkeley, but no early acceptance or regents from UCSB. It all seems pretty unpredictable and doesn’t seem like you can correlate one acceptance or regents offer from one UC to another.
Two years ago, our son was offered Regents at UCSB, UCI, UCD, and UCSD, and was invited to apply for Regents at UCLA (didn’t get it) and UCSC (didn’t apply).
He was rejected at UCB. He had few EC’s, which probably is why UCB didn’t want him. He applied for engineering at all schools.
Another engineering student at his high school was offered Regents at UCB, but at no other UC. And a computer science major at his high school was accepted at Stanford but rejected at UCSB.
