WeaselRye what were your stats?

I'm so surprised at how selective/random UCSB has gotten! some other CC members: 1410 and 1380 getting rejected...man

YESSSS **** UCSB. c'mon, my essay was good, i had a 1410, 720,740,750 ..ok my gpa was a 3.5 but ***. thought it was in the bag.. so its either st john's or banana slugs for me! (except i didnt want to go to sb at all so im not that bitter)

ACT: 32
SAT2: 750, 650, 710
and
GPA: 3.3 <---the reason I don't like college applications

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. I sure will at Santa Cruz (joke). Actually i was expecting rejection from Santa Barbara and I feel pretty positive about my future still. I got Santa Cruz and Davis is a maybe. And BYU accepted me too (blegh!).

it seems that GPA is very important at UCSB and high test scores won't outweigh it???

i got in with a 3.14 gpa and 1440 sat

3.5 GPA
1170 SATs
530, 560, 490 SAT IIs

=(

yeah, bummer:

1380/720/680/670
3.4/3.6w
Lots of EC's including president of a club, 4 years of sports, and starting my own business. 200+ hours of CS.

im over it now...looking forward to ucd, ucsd and cal. My #1's are northwestern and mcgill though so i still have quite some time till iget to the really important ones.

im effin ****ed. my friend didn't get into ucsb and look at his stats!

3.8 uc / 1390 sat i / 800 bio / 690 ic / 710 wri

*** he should have been a shoe in!!!!!

awaken is that a joke??? holy .....

sydney22: i am not joking, he is devastated. and he hasn't heard from irvine and riverside either which he def should get into. no joke at all. i'm effin ****ed about it as well....

uh.. that makes no sense. maybe he's too good for them and they didnt want someone who'd definitely not go?

:( Two of my best friends got rejected:

1: 1340, 3.7, 690/660/600. Good essays, ECs. Why wouldn't she get in??

2: 1270, 3.5, 770/650/640. Okay essays, good ECs. It was harder for him to get in, but he still should have gotten in.

What's up with that, UCSB? Huh?!?

I got in with a 21 on my ACT and a 3.8 GPA. My essays, ecs, and political activity saved me. There is still hope.

i have a friend with a 1490 SAT and 3.2 with lots of EC...somehow rejected?

That is why I dislike UC Admissions. Too much emphasis is put into grades and not enough into test scores, which in my opinion are a more accurate predictor of college success. With a wide range of quality in california schools, a 3.5 at one school may be incredibly different compared to other schools that dole out 4.0s like candy.

that letter KILLED me today.. ive wanted to go to ucsb since i was 9.
3.4 uc gpa
1250 sats
sports, community service, went from all cp classes to mostly honors and aps and college classes........guess they didnt give a **** =/
-- is anyone gonna appeal to ucsb? --

proof that UC admissions is messed up: I got accepted today to UCSB even though i withdrew my app in December, and I never even paid for it! I'd gladly transfer my letter over to someone else if I could... I feel hella bad for taking somebody's spot when I didn't even pay.

theo235: W..t..F aha that is messed up and weird

First of all... What area or major are all the people who were accepted, going into? I applied under Computer Engineering, and was denied. My SAT scores and everything weren't bad either. I dunno what's up with UCSB this year. Must be the state budget or something. Class sizes are dropping. Hopefully Calpoly will accept me.
