UCSB said 1B on my IGETC is wrong

So, i turned in all of my transcripts 2 weeks ago and was marked down on my transfer page that my transcripts were complete. Now they are saying that they called my school because 1B on my IGETC is wrong. What exactly is 1B? I called UCSB and asked what I could do about it and they say it's not my problem, but my CC's problem. Has this happened to anyone? Can it affect my attendance in the fall?

Most likely referring Area 1B - Critical Thinking and Composition. Call the admissions or graduation office at your CC and see whats up.

you might have taken a course that qualifies for Area 1B for CSU but not for UC, you should check with your community college to see if everything is in order

What course did you take? I believe 1B can be fulfilled by either taking English 102 (Freshman Composition II) or English 103 (Critical Thinking). The names may vary depending on the college. I took English 102.

I went to a Florida community college before I moved to (or even thought of) CA. There we take for English composition/critical thinking requirements English 101 and Literature 101 (if you didn’t want to take English 102). I took Literature because we learned more about creative writing. When I told my California CC counselor about it, they said that it should transfer over to the Cali CC and my English requirement for a UC would be fulfilled. So, when application time for the Fall 2009 year was up, I stated that I finished my English Comp requirements. I would hate for that to backfire on me, especially since I listened to a counselor about it. When I asked UCSB if the 1b thing could cancel my admissions, they said I should be fine. The worst that can happen is they tell me to take it at UCSB, right?
