Im a female UCSB student applying to UCLA and UC Berkeley. What do you think my chances are, considering they give priority admission to community college transfers?

UCSB GPA: 3.43
Communications major applying for mass comm at both schools, with interest in law school.
They asked for SAT/HS GPA which were 1910 and 3.6.

Im involved in club sports and a few campus organizations, but no big leadership positions or internships.

UCLA and UCB are both very competitive for Mass communications. UCLA communications is very difficult to get into the average admit GPA was 3.89. And since you do not get California Community College priority it will hurt your chances. Your best shot is at UCB which is still competitive but since there is no stats for Berkeley it is kind of hard to judge, but the admit rate to the Undergraduate and Interdisciplinary Studies which mass communications falls was 38%. But again not coming from a CCC will hurt your chances. Best of luck to you.

Try not to get stressed out about this does not mean you will not get in it is just a competitive major at both schools. Are you applying for junior transfer?

Thanks Thedude44. Ya, I'm applying for junior transfer. But I was under the impression that we were admitted under letters and sciences as a whole, and then once at Berkeley or UCLA we apply (along with all of the UC students who already go to those schools) to the specific major (after acceptance). and also, I know of people who have transfered from UCSB to USC and UCB with 3.5ish GPAs without a problem. But I'm still nervous though!!!

and Guyy, why would you be more nervous? don't you have a higher GPA?!

You are admitted to the college of letters and sciences and then you apply to your major. However you are put in an applicant pool based on what division your major you applied as falls under.
