i just received something about the summer sessions at ucsb and wanted to hear students' opinions regarding it. would you recommend attending? was it a helpful experience? enjoyable? does it usually fill up? any info would be appreciated. and if there's already a thread, could you point me to it? thanks.

no there's no thread. i think all acceptees got it.

i received it and it looks wonderful but i don't think i'll be doing it. it's so long, 6-weeks, and i want to enjoy the last summer of my youth (haha). maybe in future summers when i need to get rid of those credits. also, it's $3,600, which is manageable but i don't want to spend that already when we already have so many other expenses and many new things to buy for college (laptop, lots of clothes lol, etc).

i'm looking forward to spring insight on saturday! i'm so excited, and we can see some dorms! w00t. also, in the further future, i'm excited for frosh orientation. (2 days, 1 night, sleep in a dorm, meet people, have fun, sign up for classes, etc).

wellendowed, if you see this! maybe you can answer questions about summer session if you've attended it before?

go gauchos

I would personally enroll for the summer session. It's way easy to make friends and you'll be way ahead of everybody else in quarter units which means early registration priority than the rest of the students who didn't take summer classes. Also, the more units you have the better chance you have of getting in to classes you want to crash.

I have noticed that during fall quarter some students go to the dining common on their own while some students already have their circle of friends sharing a table. It's up to you which table you wanna be in....=)

If you don't take the summer session you'll have a week to make friends come Fall quarter LOL We call it "Discovery Week"...no classes but bunch of activities to get you acquainted with the other students and what UCSB has to offer for the next 4 years of your college life.

So if you have nothing to do during the summer enroll! Trust me it's more exciting to enroll during the summer when you are about to set foot on a different world than when you're already there on your sophomore year!
