UCSB TAG & no courses winter/spring terms

Hi! I will have finished my associates degree, IGETC, and transfer requirements by the end of Fall 2019 semester. I don’t plan to enroll for Winter, Spring, or Summer 2020 sessions.

I came across a few threads on College Confidential where students were rejected TAG admission because they took a gap prior to transfer term.

UCSB’s TAG F.A.Q. says, “Attend a California community college in your last regular session (fall, winter or spring).”

Is it okay if I don’t enroll during those sessions prior to transfer term? My TAG application asks me to explain the gap in education prior to my transfer term, but I have no idea what this implies.

I think it simply means a CCC is the only college you can attend that last year. There is no rule about # of units or full-time (as is the case with Davis). I TAG’d UCSB and only had one course each semester that last year and the TAG was valid, but that was a few years ago. I suggest you email UCSB TAG directly and ask.

This is the UCSB admissions number in the 2018 TAG Matrix: 805-893-2881.

Also, you can message them here: https://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/contact-us

Okay, thank you!! I will message their office to find out for fall 2020 admissions.

When I called the office of admissions to ask, I was told that it was recommended but not required (to take at least one class spring semester). This contradicts with your friend’s experience. I think I will e-mail to have it in writing, just in case. Thank you!

Best advice: take 1 course. Take it online or evening.
