UCSB Tag question; 29 units prior to Tagging

why don’t you just call them on monday then, we are not academic advisors.

@kMz: no matter what you do, 29 is 29. I never heard such a case when a student with 29 units is TAG-eligible. Though it does not state clearly on SB’s website, every UC is the same. If you still want, you can try tho, TAG is FREE! If, however, your TAG gets accepted, you can always return here and make a thread :" HEY PEOPLE! YOU ALL ARE EFFING DEAD WRONG! I AM TAG-ELIGIBLE WITH 29 UNITS" or something like that. If your TAG is rejected, I wouldn’t be surprise tho…

@Churroke: just ONE UC-trans math course. See this for more details on when to complete it: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/files/ETS11_TAGMatrix_rev070111.pdf</a></p>

(This post is directed at kmz, OP is out of luck IMO)

Your units from the 4 yr institution may count as they must be evaluated by your CCC and added to your official transcript.

I don’t believe attending a 4 yr automatically disqualifies you from any UC; take UCSD for example:

“You need 60 UC-transferable semester units (or 90 UC-transferable quarter units) to transfer at the junior level
• If you have 90 or more semester units (or 135+ quarter units) from accredited four-year universities and community colleges combined, then you are defined as having senior class standing – you will not be eligible for TAG”

The only thing you have to keep in mind is your LAST 30 credits MUST come from a CC to be considered a CC student, other than that - fair game. Just IMO, I still recommend calling.

Edit: The only schools this does not apply for are UCI and UCSC. UCI has a strict no non-CCC school; and UCSC has a 20 credit limit from a non-CCC school.

I’m in the same situation…sorta. The information regarding TAG for UCSB conflicts with the information on UCSB’s official website. I attended a vocational/trade school for music. It’s not regionally accredited, so I’m pretty sure none of the credits would transfer since there’s nothing comparable in terms of the classes offered at the UCs.

This information is given on the UC website: For students with CCC and non-CCC credits; can they submit a tag?: “Yes, provided student does not exceed 90 semester units of combined 4-year and community college coursework, excluding AP/IB credits (unit limit does not apply to College of Engineering and Creative Studies).”

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/files/ETS11_TAGMatrix_rev070111.pdf</a></p>

However, on the UCSB website, this information is given: “The UCSB TAG does not apply to students with senior class standing (students with 90 semester or more UC-transferable units) from accredited four-year universities and community colleges combined. Applications from senior class standing students will not be accepted.”

http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/pdf/UCSB%20Fall%202012-13%20TAG.pdf</a></p>

Keywords: TRANSFERABLE UC-units. So, either they’ll count the 30 credits I accumulated from a non-CCC college and deny me a TAG, or they’ll just dismiss them because they’re not transferable. I wish this information was more clear!

@larinaga

Have your credits from this musical school been evaluated by your community college? If they have been and have not counted towards your IGETC or any other pre-major requirements, I don’t think this will be attributed to your total credit account.
