I'm a freshman at a CCC and am applying next year to UCSB as an Econ major. I plan on TAGing, but am on track to finish my math by spring next year. Am i ineligible for TAG if i don't have all my math finished by fall???

I’ve read that UCSB is strict on something about math not being in spring and is notorious for bouncing applications for it. I don’t know if it is in Econ or maybe just engineering, but you should ask in the UC transfer forum.

In which case you might want to consider taking it this summer.

here is the forum <a href=“UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/

and here is the current UCSB transfer thread, where a lot of current transfers are posting, some of whom should know: <a href=“Official UCSB 2014 Transfer Thread - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>Official UCSB 2014 Transfer Thread - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums;

according to a post on the transfer thread if you send an email to this address a UCSB counselor will get back to you: ucsb4me@sa.ucsb.edu

I had an online appointment yesterday with an admissions rep from UCSB and she told me that they may not even have the TAG system for next year due to them turning away 4.0 students and accepting TAG. She said if they don’t do away with TAG then the GPA will go up. Kinda bummed me out…

The gpa right now is at something like 3.2 isn’t it? I could see that going up, whether immediately or on notice for a future year though. It just isn’t consistent with their freshman admissions any more, even granted that a CC 3.2 is harder than a high school 3.2

That would be a big surprise if they ended it that quickly. UCSD ended TAG and they gave 2 years notice. I would expect UCSB to do the same.
