I'm just wondering, is UCSB too much of a party school? I'm a kinda shy person, and I don't like to "party". I hear UCSB is a big party school. I'm worried if i go there i won't like it because i won't like the atmosphere and the people. Is there a place there for the quieter sorts of people? Or should I aim for another school....

UCSC or UCSD

UCD and UCI are very similar in terms of selectivity, but UCD is in the middle of nowhere and UCI is known as a commuter school.

no matter which school you choose, there will be places where you can study in peace and quiet. there are housing themes at some schools where students are expected to be quiet.
http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/hchoices/reshalls-interest-floors.htm#quiet

people aren't gonna force you to party if you don't want to. also, i'm sure the entire partying scene is easy to avoid in the first place. don't worry about the partying crowd at ucsb or any other uc. :)

The party school reputation is quickly be phased out at UCSB. There will always be parties just like any school. Chancellor Yang has been fighting to erase the negative sterotype since 1994. There is a lot more to Santa Barbara, you should make your own opinion about the school. It is really a chance of a lifetime.

santa barbara is probably the nicest city ive ever been to..and ive been all around the country

heeey, go to ucsb, haha.

im gonna be attending ucsb in the fall and im not much of a partier either, but it sound like a cool school.

email me or something if you decide to go to ucsb.

Thus far, I got accepted into UCSB and UCSD. Unless I get in to USC, I will totally go to UCSD. It was a tough choice. I think UCSB is a great school. There are always people who don't party!!! Don't let a shallow reputation, which is probably exaggerated, influence your decision. If you want to go to UCSB, then I encourage you to go!!!

I am sure you can lead a not-too-crazy life if you choose to at UCSB. Its all about what you can achieve and what you wanna do in college :)
