I went to the open house thing the other day and a student faculty member said that transfers can only live in Manzanita or San Rafael. I've read some people saying that this is not always true. Does anyone know for sure? Those two dorms have set ups that would make it hard to meet a good amount of people.

meeting people in santa barbara shouldnt be hard, but i did see something in another thread that mentioned transfers staying in other dorms.

theres also tropicana gardens… i went to spring insight and they gave us a free tour, with free food as well.

the place looked pretty nice. but they were more expensive than the dorms

if you’re going to shell out that kind of cash, just get / split a room in a house anywhere in IV. look on craigslist… there are always plenty of rooms available.

they’ll put transfers in santa ynez apartments too and if there any any space at san clemente, you’ll get that option too.

I want to live on-campus in Manzanita or San Rafael. Do I put any res. hall on the housing application? I want the undergraduate apartments to be my last resort because i heard they were off campus.

Also, is there a part where i can ask to be in the lottery for a single room?

IV had pretty run down, old, and dirty housing… you would need to look in goleta for something decent if you are a clean freak like me.

^There’s tons of nice options in Isla Vista, especially once you move further west away from campus.

Hi, I’m currently hoping to get into UCSB for the next coming Fall 2012 semester. I was wondering what you guys thought about the dorms vs living in apartment or other housing. Was the dorm experience worth it or would you have rather lived in a different housing situation? I’m in the biggest debate on whether or not I want to dorm and wanted to know how everyone else felt or thought of it.
