Hello (:

I am going to be transfering to a UC in Fall 2014 and am currently considering doing the TAG with UCSB. Because I am a first generation college student I don't really have familial assistance with these sorts of things and would love any input available.

::Some academic info::
-Major: Anthropology (would like to focus on Sociocultural)
-Transfering in as a Junior with an AA in Anthropology & IGETC certified.
-Pre requisites for my major are done.
-Haven't done any extracurricular's since high school but am in the process of becoming more involved in the community and on my CC campus.
-GPA (current): 4.0

Just curious if anyone has any input on the likelihood of my potential acceptance?

If anyone could give some information on the scholarships\grants they offer?

And just some honest opinions about social\dorm life.

I'm pretty introverted and because I don't party\smoke\drink I'm a tad concerned the campus environment might not be the best for me and that I won't make many friends..

Thanks for all your advice (:

Hi Anthro! If you have TAG, you’re guaranteed acceptance. I transferred with slightly lower stats than you and NO TAG, and I still got in! I had about a 3.9, no AA, and no major recent EC’s. A lot of transfers like Santa Ynez and San Clemente (that’s where I live and recommend). Here are reviews of each apartment complex:

I know of a few grants of several hundred dollars that were being offered during the summer. They filled up already. I received a scholarship of a few k for being a good student overall. I don’t know how exactly I was chosen, but I think they saw I have high grades.

@aucsbstudent: Thank you for the insight! I loved reading the blogs, I guess my biggest issue is honestly money so I would need to arrange for the cheapest living situation possible.
