Yup. You can complete the 7-course breadth pattern.

Two English courses, one Math, and four courses from at least two of the following disciplines: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences.

Depending on major, a student may need to take more math, bio science, etc.

English major, 3.6. I think my major gpa is a 4.0?

Will the fact that I’m taking my major prereqs now during the spring semester hurt me? It’s 2 or 3 English classes. I have a history of getting As in my english classes.

3.76. IGETC in progress and 1 calc class in progress for major (Econ/Accounting) IP. Already finished the math and english requirement by fall that everyone seems to be talking about. Oh and I also TAGed.

I think you’re good mermaker. For regular admission you only need to complete at least 1 transferable math class by the end of spring prior to Fall’13. However, you do need a transferable math class completed before Spring if you were applying through TAG.

Dual Major- Art History (Archicture & Environment Emphasis) & Political Science (Comparative Politics)
UC GPA 3.82 Major GPAs 4.00
IGETC completed
Finished all Pre-Recs, except for 1 poli sci class
TAG’d Art History

I applied to all the of UCs but UCR, UCD, and UCM.
I really want to go to UCSB because they have the Art History program that most interests me out of all the of UCs. Even if I get into UCLA or Berkeley, I think I’ll still pick UCSB.

Hi all,
I applied to UCSB through TAG as an Econ major. My GPA is 3.6 and I will have completed all remaining lower divisions by the end of this semester. My worry? I was on assist the other day and it read that only one repeat of a premajor course will be counted toward admission into the major. I passed Statistics with a B on my third try. Does this mean I will not get credit for Statistics? Will this jeapordize my admission?

^^ No, you’re fine. What that section in the articulation agreement is referring to is Economics 10A - a pre-major class Econ majors have to take at UCSB in order to be admitted into the full Econ major. So, if you fail it, you can only repeat it once. You need a ‘B’ or higher in Econ 10A to be admitted into the full major

Absolutely positive. They won’t admit you without the four pre-reqs done before starting at UCSB (Micro, Macro, Stats, Calc/Business Calc or just two Calc courses and no Stats). You need a 2.75 in those four courses from your community college.

From there, you need a 2.85 or higher in Econ 10A in order to be admitted into the full major. If you need one final Stats or one final Calc course, you can complete that course with a C or better. It sounds confusing, but let me give you my example:

I’ve completed: Micro, Macro, Business Calc (UCSB’s Math 34A), and Stats. Once I get to UCSB, I need to take UCSB’s Math 34B (Business Calc part 2, essentially). I can complete that last Business Calc course with a C or higher. Once I complete that Business Calc course, I can enroll in Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (Econ 10A). All students who wish to declare the full Econ/Econ and Accounting major need to complete Econ 10A with a B or higher (2.85 GPA for one 4 unit class).

That would depend on whether your Business Calc course covers BOTH Math 34A&B. It would count as two Calculus courses and you’re fine. If it doesn’t, then it’s anyone’s guess on whether they’d view taking Stats in the Summer would be looked upon unfavorably. I’ve always been under the impression that UCSB wants those four pre-reqs done by the end of Spring.

I suggest e-mailing one of their transfer counselors to get a clear answer.

The business calc class I’m taking covers both 34a and 34b. Yeah, I’ve noticed they’re strict on finishing IGETC english and math by spring…So I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just as strict.

You should be fine then. If you get accepted into UCSB you’ll just have to take Econ 10A before declaring the full major.

I’m transferring from Orange Coast College (most UC units), but have coursework from 5 other California community colleges . Lol. I’ve moved around a bit.

Laringa, I could be wrong or misinformed, but from what I was told that if the equivalence of Math 34B doesn’t have a “course does not articulate” next to it under the section for the CC courses then the class covers both Math 34A and Math 34B. For example, UCSC I would have to take a Part 2 for business calc. If I’m wrong, then all I can do is hope for a miracle haha.
