Okay so I'm currently attending UCSB as a freshman. I just finished my fall quarter here, but my family has been struggling financially to keep up with the tuition + housing costs. Since I really wanted to go to UCSB, my parents said that I could give it a try, but it's becoming to difficult to pay for the costs. I'm interested in doing a UC intercampus transfer to UCI because I live near UCI so I would only have to worry about paying for tuition and not housing (since I can live at home). How would I go about doing a transfer like this? I'm hoping to get into UCI for the fall of 2009, btw.

Thanks so much!

Applications for Fall 2009 were due the 30th of November.

I would say get a job, apply for scholarships and make it work. Money should not stand between you and going to the school of your dreams. Also imagine what college would be like living at home and commuting, you will be missing out on a lot. I realize school is expensive but I would say try to exhaust all other possibilities before sacrificing what you’ve worked so hard for.

hey, i used to goto UCSB and i know that you could save alot of money by working at the dining commons, at the UCEN, or becoming an RA next year. Being an RA would save you $12,0000 a year because you wouldn’t have to pay for housing or food and you get a small stipend. Also, you wouldn’t be able to transfer by next fall because i don’t think you’ll have 90 quarter units done by then unless you had an insane amount of AP units.
