I picked Revelle because I want to be “challenged” and really want to learn. However, my friend from UCLA was telling me that she knows more about business than her from from UCSD because she has been taking a lot of GE classes. This is what scared me!

Also, I already took calc 1c. I am done with linear algebra, and i am taking Diff. eqs right now.

But I am assuming I have to take chemistry, foreign languages, physics, etc.

Evan, what classes are we going to have to take for Marshall?

And that quarter or two that I will be wasting because of GEs, I could be instead taking classes that interest me or will get be ahead.

I think there is one or two upper division courses that are not related to your major that you can choose from for Marshall. Pretty lenient.

@thebigshow

Revelle has quite a few GE’s you have to do…if it takes more than 2 quarters then I would go to UCSB because you could be halfway done by the time you finish your GE’s at UCSD.

It’s my opinion that UCSD>UCSB in economics and many fields related to economics.

Check out the UC experience thread and see what people say about each school, I heard it really isn’t too hard to find a party from a current UCSD transfer student of course my friend at SBCC is partying non-stop.

Any reason you haven’t select Davis?

Yeah, two courses doesn’t seem all that bad. And i’m sure we could find somewhat easy/interesting courses

And plus, I think I rather be an actuary than an accountant lol. And UCSB has a program there. That really impresses me; it seems they are trying to tap that sector!

They also have a lot of finance related courses. I cannot seem to find the link, but I will try.

I only applied to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSD, and UCSC. I don’t know much about UCD. I am sure it is a great school, but I guess it didn’t tickle my fancy!

I definitely agree that UCSB is a better school than UCSD. Don’t let rankings blind you from your own observations.

Here are some courses that UCSB offers. I wonder if UCSD has a similar selection! I think it would be neat to have more time to take graduate finance courses at UCSB because I will have less GEs to take!

I wonder if anyone else is in my boat. That is, same major or dilemma.

+UCLA is coming out with a undergraduate economics journal…I hope I get in, I really want to be published in a semi-real journal instead of a CC one (no offense to CC)

It would probably make sense for you to go to UCSB bigshow. Although UCSD is a better school academically, that really isn’t all that important for undergrad

@ Trasferuc

Did you apply to Berkeley?

Damn, UCSD has some good courses too.

I guess I will have to think hard lol.

@thebigshow

I am still trying to choose whether to go to UCSD or UCD if I don’t get into Cal or UCLA

I really like the thought of the wine program at UC Davis (I’ve always wanted to know more and maybe get a vineyard when I get older)

Rankings are not everything, they are good indicators, but they should not be your final choice… let the courses, professors, and undergraduate experience guide you

Ya, i doubt Ill get into UCB…I only have a 3.76 and my really cool EC didn’t happen till this year (I’m sorta a one year transfer)

@ Trasferuc

Agreed.

I applied as a math/econ major at all the UCs, except berkeley, where I applied straight econ.

I know a girl who got into UCB econ with a 3.5 gpa, but she had good ECs. I think you have a good chance and are really competitive.

I want to be a math/econ but I just don’t have enough time. what are your stats?
