As most of you are going through the same back and forth predicament as I between deciding on a school, I'm torn between my top 2 choices.

I've lived near the SB area for the last four year and in awe every time I'm around the campus, but the prestige that is Berkeley can't be denied.

As a 27 year old transfer, partying isn't my priority, but I wouldn't mind the occasional booze fest.

I'd like to get the opinion from my fellow CC forum buddies. What would you choose? Who else has this same predicament?

If I were you, I would go to Berkeley, thats only because I really want to go to Berkeley.

Being a 27 year old transfer student, I think you are kind of similar to me.

I’ll be 24 in a week, and I really want to start my education, I tried at a CC a few years ago but I wasn’t ready to take it seriously.

What I want to know is do I have a chance at transferring into a UC if I start my 2 years at a CCC, like what were your stats like. Grades, GPA all that stuff.

Nobody in my family has really ever went to college so its a new concept to our family.

How would I go about getting into the UC system, are the odds stacked against me?

any advice is really appreciated.

Thank you

My GPA isn’t great at a 3.4. I have a ton of experience coming from A military background. I also think i hot accepted because the two prompts I wrote were great. I spent a lot of time on them. I showed the drafts to a lot of different people and asked for their opinion. Some gave good advice some gave terrible advice.

My recommendation to you is to get lots of experience in a certain field of study. Make sure you can relate that experience to a certain major. Find an internship if possible. Anything can be put on an application. Get good grades but also get involved with as much stuff as possible. I didn’t get accepted because of My GPA. I got accepted because of all the other stuff I put on the application.

I also have another question for you, I was reading about TAG, is this something that will be going on for a while, or are they going to do away with it.
whats your major by the way?

Also I really appreciate your reply.

Thanks

I didn’t go the TAG route so I’m not sure how it works. I do know that Berkeley doesn’t participate in Tag. so if it’s Berkeley you want forget about Tagging.

My major is Political Science. You are welcome for the reply. I’m just glad somebody got something out of this post. If you ever have a question don’t hesitate. I know how confusing and stressful applying to a UC is.

What a predicament to be in, congratulations! I’ll be your same age when I transfer and hope to have Berkeley as an option. If possible try visiting Berkeley, ultimately it’s all about where you’ll be happiest I suppose. Again congratulations, stories like yours inspire those of us just getting started.
