UCSB vs UC Davis Computer Science

This is probably one of the most important decisions of my life and I still cant decide between the two. I am accepted into Computer Science in College of Letters and Science in Davis and accepted to UCSB in College of Engineering for Computer Science. UC Davis is overall ranked a bit better than UCSB but UCSB has a very prestigious Engineering department. Although UCSB is a lot better based off of "fun", I'd much rather choose this based purely off academics and future job potential. The main reason I am considering UCSB is because of the 5 year BS/MS program. Anyways, which college do you think will give me better internship opportunities or overall be a better school for me in the long run?

Your choice should hinge on CS vs. CSE, on the one hand; and college environment on the other.

UC Davis has an endless range of internship opportunities for undergrads! You’d find one easily. I’m not sure about UCSB, but from the information you’ve given, it really does sound like the better choice for you and the program you’re interested in. Good luck!

then the decision comes down to a bet on you. Do poorly at either of these 2 fine schools and your opportunities are going to be limited. Do well and you are going to be an attractive hire from either. Any slight difference in “ranking” is meaningless; all the difference in your future is going to come down to what you do in college, not the name on the diploma. Neither college is going to “give” you anything. Employers aren’t hiring college names, they’re hiring someone to solve their problems. The best indication of the odds of a candidate doing so is their grades in relevant courses and prior experience in the field.
