UCSB vs UC Davis

I’m choosing between UCSB (currently in undeclared for college of letters and sciences, waiting to hear back from CCS Biochem) and UC Davis (admitted to biomedical engineering).

I’ve heard that UC Davis is better in terms of first-gen low-income student support and it’s a factor in my decision along with living costs which is also cheaper at Davis. I really love SB’s CCS and the freedom it would give me with their research flexibility. But, I know Davis is maybe a little better when it comes to biomedical /tissue engineering related research…

Do you guys have any advice / insight?

Which major is more desirable to you?

I am a UCSB alum with a student who attended UCD. I agree with your assessment but no support is going to come to you. You will have to seek it out.

When will you hear back from CCS? It is an amazing program for the right student.
