So I have been accepted to both UCSB and UCI. I am just trying to figure out which university would be better for me if I want to major in business (preferably accounting or finance).
At UCSB I was accepted as a pre-business economics & accounting major, but at UCI I was accepted as undecided.

I’m definitely in the same boat as you, except I got into UCI for Bus. Admin. I also want to go into accounting/finance, so don’t know which school to choose.

Either school is fine, your job opportunity will be high if you have a competitive GPA when you graduate (Meaning +3.7 GPA). Besure to meet a lot of people and get out of your comfort zone in order to land jobs. Just go to the school you feel most comfortable at.

Besure to say you have background in Accounting, because ever since Enron and the Federal Government placing new laws anyone with accounting background will be additional benefit to the company.

UCSB is more well rounded so in case you want to change majors UCSB would offer a lot more. Though UCI has a business program, no one really knows how strong it is because no one graduated from it yet. Good luck ! & anywhere you go just keep your grades high!

Well, here at UCI if you want to get into accounting, you have to apply for the minor (average GPA admitted was around a 3.7). UCI you can either major in business admin (hard to get into) or business economics (easy to get into), and supplement the biz econ major w/ a minor in accounting.

That being said, you are already in the accounting major at UCSB, and there is no guarantee that you will get into the accounting minor at UCI.
Accounting is pretty big at UCSB, so I would imagine that there are plenty opportunities for you there.

The Accounting Association at UCI is also pretty active, and the Big 4 or Big 3 (E&Y doesn’t recruit here) recruit here as well.

If you’re pretty confident that you’re going into accounting or finance, I would go with UCSB just to be safe and the opportunities are about equal; if not, better at SB in terms of that field.

i say ucsb ^ Junshik basically explains it all
however, go to the schools and visit them first. i’d only say ucsb if you like the schools equally.
