UCSB vs UCI for IB/ Trading job?

Accepted into UCSB for financial mathematics and statistics, UCI for business administration. Want to have a career working in the LA financial. Anyone have any advice on which school I should choose for a BB/sales and trading career? (awaiting other schools, these are my options atm) I’ve heard UCSB would be better since it is a semi target school for some banks but it is a 2 hour drive from LA which would make it harder to get internships.

GPA: 3.9

Awaiting: UCB, UPenn, NYU, Cornell

If you are a UCSB student and got a summer internship in downtown LA, you would live in the LA area for the summer. The commute from UCSB to downtown LA is longer than 2 hours during commute hours. If the internship is in Century City (another financial center in the LA area), you might be able to commute from UCSB during commute hours in 1.5 to 2 hours.

@Wants2Bank Hi! UCSB alum here! I was one of the student internship coordinators while I was a student at UCSB and @UCBUSCalum is correct in that you’d need to live in LA during the summer, as the commute is far too long (tough from UCI also). There were surprisingly some local SB banking internship options, however many of the students interested in banking spent the summer in LA, SF or NY for internships and would sublet a room from a UCLA, etc student for the summer. Good luck!
