UCSB VS UCSD HELP!

I’m currently very stuck between UCSD and UCSB. When I applied, I applied as a bio-engineering major; however, after further research I realized it’s easier to get the career that I wanted by being a chemical engineering major. But, this is different for nationally ranked bioengineering schools like UCSD.

But here’s my situation. I got admitted as a chemical engineering major at UCSB but only a biochem major at UCSD. I would want to try to transfer into bioengineering at UCSD but it’s extremely impacted and difficult. I liked UCSB’s campus and vibe slightly more than UCSD’s but the San Diego/La Jolla area has more internship companies and medical device companies, drug companies, etc.

Also, at the end of the day I’m not 100% set on doing engineering. Another very plausible major for me to go into is some type of business or communications. I know this all sounds like a big jumble with a bunch of indecision but any opinions or thoughts would help a lot. Thank you so much!

Considering I’m almost in the same boat as you (UCSD Mathematics and UCSB Physics) I am totally swamped. My dream school really is UCSB because of the beautiful campus and the overall schooly atmosphere and essence of the students, but everybody I know is going to UCSB! UCSB is as beautiful as UCSD so it’s so difficult trying to choose! I’ve read many college confidential forums and have found that many believe that UCSD is dead and sure that scares me but it really does become what you make it and if UCSB gives you the vibes you want go for it! UCSD gave me the vibes I wanted so I’m pretty close to choosing it. But first impressions are everything just remember that. Scholastically they are of the same level. So go where your heart desires!

@MichelleCP tbh the more I think about it, the more I feel comfortable around the type of the student body UCSD has. Both schools appeal to me but in different ways ugh

@MichelleCP @undecided2k16 if it’s any comfort, UCSD isn’t socially dead as long as you step outside and talk to people. Everyone’s generally friendly and interesting. The parties aren’t in-your-face like they would be at SB, but there’s always something going on (and Greek life for those who aren’t satisfied).
