UCSB vs. USC

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I’m not sure where else to post this.

Today I received an admission to USC and could not be more excited, until I realized I had to choose between there and my other dream school UCSB. I am planning on majoring in economics or business but may switch to accounting. Can anybody give some pros or cons about either school? I’m completely stuck between the two. Thank you

I would start with costs. Does one cost substantially more than the other?

Due to financial aid the costs aren’t very different. :expressionless:

Congratulations. If cost isn’t an issue, then you should visit the business schools of both campuses. More than half of USC undergrads are from OOS/international, so you might find that more interesting insofar as the diversity of student body. And of course, there is the Trojan Family, which will help you in business. Best of luck and Fight On!

Good advice, thank you. Hopefully visiting both campuses will make this easier. I’m just so terrified I’ll make the wrong choice and be wondering what if for four years. I guess that’s part of life though.

The campuses have very different feels. Once you visit, it should be clear to you which one you want to go to.

USC is stronger than UCSB in things like business and accounting, while UCSB would be stronger in subjects like natural sciences.

I’m very familiar with both places. Visiting the campuses, which have different locales and vibes, should make it an easy decision.

With that said, USC is strong in business, econ, accounting, finance, etc. As long as you’re personable, you’d leave USC with great connections.

I think I’m going to choose USC. Thanks everyone!

You won’t regret your decision. Welcome to Troy!

Fight On!

Agree with Simba on respective strengths of both schools. For similar financial packages and your proposed major, USC seems like the best choice. Congratulations~
