Are all the waitlist and waitlist w appeal that just got in today for freshman 2021 or are you transfer students. Thanks for clarifying.
My son was waitlist, no appeal. Freshman 2021.
@vcypress I believe everyone here would be part of the '21 class (freshmen)…not a transfer thread.
Thanks for the clarification.
my friend got an email saying ucsb updated the admissions thing and she went on the portal and she got in! so I guess the update includes an email and the portal thing!
Hey guys I just got admitted off the waitlist for a Pre-Biopsychology major! Now I have to decide between Cal Poly SLO and UCSB I have no idea!
State: CA
School: Private
Race and sex: White and female
ACT: 31
Weighted gpa: 3.87
Unweighted: 3.75
Took 1 AP last year and got a 5. This year I took 2 APs.
No leadership but did Varsity track for 3 years. Had 2 jobs.
Not sure how I got in but I wish the best of luck to everyone!
So was everyone who got in today in-state?
Got admitted today in-state for pre-econ! Also I didn’t appeal.
Do you guys still think there is a chance for others to be admitted next week? Or should I be worried?
I still haven’t heard anything
Did they contact the acceptances through email?
I am in State. When I talked to Admissions yesterday they said a few hundred this week and a few hundred next week. I wouldn’t give up hope just yet. Plus a few UCs haven’t released their waitlists yet and that will cause a trickle down and get some students off here. Good luck all. Limbo SUCKS.
I talked to admissions today as well and they said that they were gonna bring in more students about 2-3 times again. He told me not to quote him on this but that they were still gonna bring in students so try not to lose hope! I’m still waitlisted and I have a 4.0 UC GPA, 1200 SAT, 7 AP classes total, 10 extracurriculars and 100+ hrs of community service
Im still waitlisted with my appeal pending
Major: Pre-biology
In state
Middle Eastern Female
GPA: 3.9
New SAT: 1460
ACT: 31
over 300+ hours of volunteer and internship in a hospital
various extracurriculurs
four years of theater
president of two clubs
founder of a mental illness awareness club
7 APs
dont give up hope yet everyone!! Last year, people from my school were still getting off the waitlist towards the end of May. Just be patient
The humanity of those who have gotten admitted is admirable. It really reduces the pain of those of us who are still left hanging with a feeling that for whatever reason UCSB does not want us.
My daughter was accepted off of the waitlist today. She is in-state and did not appeal, just opted into the waitlist. She immediately sent in her SIR and payment. To those still waiting, don’t get discouraged yet. Also keep in mind there are other avenues to get in. My D was going to go to SBCC and TAG UCSB. She declined CPSLO and SDSU Weber Honors because she really only wanted to go to UCSB. It’s what you make of your experience wherever you end up that matters most.
Limbo 2017 out here running point
I just got admitted form the waitlist pool at UCSB as a pre-political science major yesterday evening. Just a quick synopsis of my academic and extracurricular standing standing:
State: Out of state
School: Private
Race and sex: White and male
SAT: 1200
Weighted gpa: 3.77
Unweighted: 3.65
Took a total of 8 AP classes and around 4 honors classes.
A ton of extracurricular activities and leadership positions ranging from being vice president in the PTSA to being captain in the rugby team.
I also submitted an appeal that included 2 letters of recommendations. In the appeal I discussed my interest and desire to attend UCSB. I also revealed an increase in my second semester GPA to a 4.3 to show my continues hard work. I explained why UCSB would be the perfect school for me, and why I wouldn’t be able to excel in an academic, spiritual and social level the way I would at UCSB.
Based on the thread from the previous years, UCSB continues to accept people from the waitlist pool throughout the months of May and June, so stay optimistic. I would recommend you contact the admissions office, via email, to reemphasize your desire to attend UCSB. What definitely helped my case is that my counselor talked to an admissions counselor that she knew at UCSB and advocated my academic standing as well as my strong interest in becoming a Gauchos.
Goodluck to everyone.
Hello y’all! Just found this discussion, pretty helpful. I got waitlisted and appealed as well. I’m remaining hopeful, but discouraged that I didn’t get in yet. Has anyone heard anything else? Like will they be telling us as soon as tomorrow if possible?
