We should all call tomorrow and see what type of info we get.
That way if we’re all told that the SIR has reached it’s limit we can confirm that it’s the case because we’ve seen conflicting information from all types of people. I saw earlier in this thread that a rep said 8000 were on the waitlist when it seems like its about 4000 in reality for example.
Either way I’m not getting my hopes up either as I’ve noticed a lot of people in my area committing to UCSB so the SIR limit does seem entirely true.
I’m game @WinstonZayne everyone please call and post your responses here so we can get as much info as possible
@WinstonZayne the number of people offered a spot on the waitlist and the number of people opting in to actually be on the waitlist is always different usually though. 8000 or 9000 people were offered a spot and 4000 accepted, so less than or about half opted in, a “small” number
So I called earlier, was told that they weren’t sure on the amount of SIRs or if there was more/less than usual, but that the amount of applicants this year was the most they’ve ever had. She said that they need another week and a half or two weeks to get an idea of how many waitlisted applicants they can admit. Otherwise, not much info that we don’t already know. I hope someone gets some good news soon!
Thank you @BlueThunderKing ! It seems like literally every single rep has something different to say. Proves that we can’t entirely rely on the information any rep gives. Either way this is the latest UCSB has notified waitlisted applicants in recent years so thats somewhat worrying
All of the UCs are giving out waitlist notifications late this year it seems… only Berkeley has notified so far
@dood523 santa cruz has also given out notifcation. UCI and UCSD have historically sent it around the 15th so only santa barbara is late
@schlgurl UCLA and UCD usually send out within the first week as well but still nothing there for this year, I think there were just so many applicants this year that they need the time to figure out how big they want their classes to be.
I just called! I spoke to Mrs Clarke she said notices are not going out this week, hopefully will be out by next week but she cant say for sure. She said, she didn’t have any numbers but transferred me to speak to someone that can help me with those numbers. Her name is Kathleen, she said she doesn’t have those numbers yet. She cant say when notices will be out if any. She also added that they have a deadline of June 30th and will be taking advantage of that time because of the high SIRs this year. Kathleen also added she cant say if there is any spots open for appeals or the wait list. :(( a bunch of non information!!!
@patty10 so although she was unable to confirm any numbers she did confirm there was a large number of SIRs?
@WinstonZayne no she didnt say there was a large number. She said there was a high SIR response this year. She never said she didn’t know, it was mostly “I cant say.” and was firm with expect response by June 30th. When I asked if possibly some notices to go out sometime next week, she said I will receive an email no later than June 30th.
@patty10 I might be wrong but doesn’t a high SIR response imply that there was a large number of SIR? Also implying that theyre close to the limt?
@WinstonZayne you’re not wrong, that’s exactly what it sounds like
most definitely! i think she was trying to make a point about not giving me a specific amount or a date.
Dang. I’m just defeated at this point.
My son is still hoping. He got a 1460 on the SAT and has a weighted GPA of 4.5. This is so frustrating.
Don’t give up hope guys! Best of Luck to you all!
Just refreshed my portal and found out I got denied from the waitlist:( good luck to everyone
Were you on the waitlist with an appeal or without an appeal? Now you can get excited about your next option!
I’m so sorry @hydroflask123 :((
Has anyone else heard anything? My portal is still the same as before
