My daughter did not appeal and just saw it on the portal this morning. She knew that the portal was down a few days so checked to see if anything happened…
did they email you to check your portal?
@COmama24
Yes, she did receive an email but had already randomly checked in a couple hours before that.
This is what my portal shows:

@Lasttime2020 Same with all of us
I just noticed that the portal was closed, and it seems like y’all noticed too. Last time the portal closed, some people reported that they were removed from the waitlist. Hopefully a lot more people are removed today!! It could easily just be maintenance though
no change for me. in state
no change for me either. oos
does anybody have any insight on whether or not it will be easier to get off the waitlist this year, or will the uc’s asking so many oos people to come to their schools affect the amount of in state people off the waitlist?
@katieb123 I have seen a lot of news articles that are predicting schools to use their waitlists a lot more this year than in previous years because of all of the COVID-19 chaos going on. A lot of parents have been laid off, so a lot of high-achieving OOS students are predicted to be going to their state schools on a full-ride as opposed to a more prestigious school with a higher tuition. I think that’s why plenty of people think it will be easier to get off the waitlist this year, but it’s hard to predict. I think it’s highly possible that less OOS state students are committing to UC schools this year since the tuition is a lot higher for OOS students, which would mean that more OOS students than usual would be getting let off the waitlist. However, if this does end up being true, it shouldn’t affect the amount of in-state students who are removed from the waitlist because the UC schools (just like all state schools) are required by the government to accept more in-state applicants than OOS applicants. UC schools have a non-California resident cap at 18%.
Hello! My daughter is waitlisted for 4 UCs - UCLA, UCSB, UCI and UCSD. She was accepted UCD and Cal Poly, so she is going to accept Cal Poly at this point and will see if anything hear from any waitlisted UCs. If once we get a offer from the waitlist from one school, then if we get another one later from another school, can we change to another one then???
@hawiian3 - My D is in a similar situation, accepted to UCSD, UCD and UCSC but waitlisted at her top choices UCSB & UCLA. To the best of my knowledge, UC deposits don’t transfer from campus to campus. However, your D should have a few days to decide so she may want to wait until the last minute before committing to one UC if she is still waiting news from her top UC. You can change after accepting one but you will lose your deposit.
@Hawaiian3: If your daughter gets off a waitlist, she can change schools but will forfeit her deposit on the original school she SIR’d. If she gets multiple waitlist offers, again she can change schools but will forfeit the enrollment fee each time unless the offers overlap.
Thank you so much for your information, Gratefulmom & Gumbymom! I really appreciated it!
i just got in off waitlist . in state, checked portal no email yet
I just got in off waitlist, in state too. no email just portal
Oh wow congratulations! If youdon’t mind me asking, what major did you apply to and did you guys appeal? I think it’s a good sign they’re admitting in-state already. @Caliboy2024 @thegreatgatz
Undeclared (Letters and Science) major
i didn’t appeal and i got into undeclared l&s (which is what i applied to). thank you! @homosapiens
Do they do it by major? Like if in-state people in l&s undeclared got off today is that the only chance that people will get off waitlist for that major?
