This is a true success story. The people on here all have fantastic stats, but I really think that if you’re able to show you’re personality, it makes all the difference. I have some good ECs but I really think my essay is what did it.

I can’t clearly understand the process of admittance/rejections…I know the UC system prides itself on a “holistic” approach instead of simply crunching numbers like Cal Poly SLO.

thanks popeyoung5, i am glad i’m not the only one surprised.
Keetermom, ucsc does work on a point system, it is available on the myucsc portal.

does anyone know if i could call and inquire more about my rejection?

i checked my portal @ 5 am and found out that I got accepted.
I was shocked actually.
I have a 3.1 barely… I expected to get denied but then I read congr…

They dont do that, a lot of my friends were accepted to UCLA and UCSC.
collegecarolz, it is really hard to believe that you got denied. Did you make sure that they got your SAT scores? are u oos? If you really want to go to UCSC, you should appeal I’m pretty sure there was a mistake.

Accepted for Computer Science: Computer Game Design! I’ll probably switch into general Comp Sci though.

GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1700

I have no idea how I got in since my stats aren’t exactly stellar, but I am happy to have been accepted especially after being rejected from Cal Poly SLO! :)

It lists the score for waitlisting between 5,130 and 5,325 points. I would assume a score higher than this, you were offered admission, lower you were declined, and obviously inbetween, given the opportunity to be placed on the waitlist. While you cannot know your exact comprehensive review score, I would think a safe bet would be to multiply your UC GPA x1000 + SAT reasoning score to get a BASELINE review score. The criteria in it’s entirety can be found at [Freshman Admission and Selection: 2011-12](http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/freshman.html)
