I am an American citizen that has lived and schooled in Ghana, West Africa all my life I applied for CS with 610 in both my math and english SAT. what do you think my chances of getting in are?
Is it possible that they may be underaccepting this year due to overaccepting last year then waitlisting and weeding out the students who applied to ucsc as a safety and are planning to attend other schools?
@stressingout01 I hope so
When will we start hearing back?
@deezeleven: Figure on hearing back after May 1 but usually around Mid-May.
Is it just my area (bay area) or did an exceptional amount of people get waitlisted this year
Yeah, I’m from the bay area also and know a lot of people that were waitlisted. Hopefully, they did not waitlist as many this year than last year. Waitlist acceptance rate last year was terrible.
Seems like in 2016 most of the people were accepted… And then last year barely anyone was. This is limbo is awful… guess I have to commit elsewhere and keep my fingers crossed.

@SaintPumpkin I know, the waiting game is terrible. I’m really hoping that because they overcommitted last year, they’re just being safe this year and will take a large chunk off the waitlist.
Do we have any insight into what date they’ll start releasing waitlist decisions? And let’s say you’re offered a spot - how long do they give you to decide? Some people on the list have made other plans I would imagine. Not everyone on there would say yes.
Anyone get off the waitlist yet? I heard they have let some people in!
@SaintPumpkin Where did you hear that? I thought they were still reviewing.
My mom called and spoke to someone in the admissions office yesterday… she said they already started. But it could go til June!
@SaintPumpkin Oh ok thanks!
I think they accepted a few people off the waitlist through appeals but i havent heard of anyone else
Berkeley started releasing waitlist applicant decisions yesterday and I’ve been freaking out for a while. I’ve been trying to find student statistics to see what my chances may be. I hope this helps other people who are in my position.
SAT - 1380 (720 math 660 english) 5,6,7 in essay
GPA - 4.04 weighted, 3.7 unweighted
I’ll keep you guys posted! good luck.
Its good that Berkeley started the processes so that those at other UC’s can release their spots for those of us waiting to get into our first choice. I can’t believe this process isn’t over. (sigh). Has anyone heard about UCSB, UCD or UCSD?
My daughter got accepted off the waitlist this afternoon.
