Just checked UCSC portal and I've been admitted. It's my back-up's back-up, but it's still a fine institution that anyone should be happy to attend (including me, should I not get into my other schools).

Major: CSE
GPA: 4.0
Prereqs: Probably all of them that articulate (I've forgotten)
EC's: Average
Essays: 9/10 on 1st, 7/10 on 2nd

Funny thing is that when I logged in it showed no “new” messages. You have to click “Application Status” to get the information.

Also, I really like this school. It is a fine institution, especially if you like physics or biology. I applied because I think I would like going there.

Congrats everyone!

Wow, I am looking at my major and it looks like you can change it. Anyone know what this is?

Thanks! It’s a very muted joy I’m experiencing. It’s my first UC admittance, but I have to wait another 6 weeks to hear from preferred schools.

When I go to “update major” the page doesn’t load, so I’m not sure.

I guess they don’t do “preliminary Finaid” like UCSD does? You have to submit that crap?

I was hoping I could see if they would give me more money. Does anyone know if one can get UCs to give more aid by telling them that they got into X school with Y aid, but you want to go to their school if you get more aid?

I have no idea. They might explain it in the packet they send out to admits.

Hi, thanks for the heads up! I was admitted! Congrats to all who got in! I’m just waiting on UCSB and Cal at this point =)

I GOT ACCEPTED! and unlike most of you this was actually my first choice school. I’ve always loved the campus and they have a good program for my major

Major: Environmental Science/studies
GPA: 2.9
Prereqs: done and igetc done
EC’s: environmental club and part time job
Essays: I wrote them last minute, didnt think they were even that great.

@BayAreaTransfer Did you apply to UCLA?

I am still waiting for Cal, UCLA, and UCSB.

I’m very happy for you, jaclynlilli. It must feel good to get accepted to your 1st choice. Good luck!

Mine still hasn’t updated yet, and I’m kind of disappointed. Ohh well, just a bit longer I guess D=.

Yay! I’m in too!

Major: Politics
GPA: 3.62
Prereqs: Done (IGETC)
EC’s: nonexistent
Essays: both lame

My first acceptance… and I stayed up to check my portal at midnight until I got through at 1am.

Major: History
GPA: 3.3-3.4 (3.8 Major GPA)

Say what you will about UCSC…it’s the first UC that’s given me my decision so far, and as such, will always have a place in my heart hahaha. Still waiting on UCI and UCSD, argh.

@ bigshow,

No I didn’t apply to UCLA. I know it sounds insane, but it’s not a school I’ve wanted to go to. My dream school is Berkeley, and that’s my #1 choice. The major is perfect and it’s close to home so I can save money in this down economy =)

@ BayAreaTransfer

I understand. I wish I lived around any of the campuses. Well, I live near UCR, but I don’t want to go there.

What is your major?

Levonid, UC Riverside popped my acceptance cherry last year, it still holds a place in my heart.

but i didnt apply this year lol

“UC Riverside popped my acceptance cherry last year.”

***. That is wrong on so many levels lol.
