UCSC chance?

My dream school is UCSC and I’m really worried I won’t get in. Can you guys please chance me?

GPA: 3.65
SAT: 1570
ACT: 23
Extra : I was in 4 high school theater productions, one in which I was the Lead actor. I played club soccer and I was the team captain. I won two awards for engineering and I worked all throughout high school. I was in the drama club for 4 years.
I took 6 AP Classes and about 4 Honors and I go to a prep school so all my classes were College Prep.
I think my essays were pretty good and I want to major in Political Science.

Thanks guys! And please be honest! Also if you got into UCSC what was your GPA? Thanks again!

Your academic Stats put you below the average. I think UCSC is a High Match so you do have a chance but it will probably come down to your EC’s and essays as the determining factors.

Good Luck.

UCSC has averages of about 3.7 GPA and 25 ACT, so you’re a bit below those averages. You’ll likely have better chances at UCR and UCM though.

Average ACT for UCSC is 27.
Average UC GPA is 3.88.

Those are the numbers for the admitted freshmen, but since UCSC has a relatively low yield, the actual enrolled numbers are much lower. Also, those average GPAs are capped because the reported numbers for UCLA/UCB (4.18 and 4.19) are much lower than the enrolled freshman averages (4.31 and 4.39 uncapped).

According to the most recent CDS, UCSC’s 25%-75% ACT range is 22-28 (so median of about 25). Their reported average GPA is 3.45, but this is almost certainly unweighted, since UCR reports a 3.68 and UCD/UCI/UCSB report ~4.0.

@goldenbear2020: Thanks for the info

Your academics are below the norm for UCSC. The SAT score, ACT score, and GPA all put you in the minority of accpeted students at UCSC. EC’s are good, however. I think it will probably come down to your essays and how they feel about the ECs,.
My sister got into UCSC, but she had a GPA of 4.18, so not very similar to your case.
