Hi everyone. My last name is V. Still nothing. What happen?
@tuyenvo13emhs Same thing happened last year. Admission decisions come out in batches. We were just not a part of the first batch
@csgirl19 I hear it’s a beautiful campus and it has a decent program for CS. But I’m waiting till I hear back from the rest of the UCs before I make up my mind. How about yourself? Would you go to UCSC if you get into SLO?
@PantherDuc
So we have to wait for it? Do you know how long? I am so nervous.
@tuyenvo13emhs Well, the admissions are rolling, so people should receive their admission decisions all throughout march and all the way through April (until April 30th). It’s impossible to say exactly when people will receive their decisions, though.
@PantherDuck
Thank you so much. So keep waiting for it.
@tuyenvo13emhs No worries, Mate. And yeah, all we can do now is just wait. Excruciating, I know haha.
Hi guys, very late to the tread, but I’ve been checking every few minutes since 4am. No decision yet, I’m getting extremely nervous.
Major: Cognitive Science
GPA: 3.2
TAG: no
IGETC: finishing this spring
Major Prep: also finishing this spring
Applied: UCSC, UCSB
Congrats to everyone who got in! UCSC is my top choice mostly for location, campus, and the overall vibe. I’m kinda nervous cause i keep having dreams (nightmares) that I don’t get in. But we’ll see I guess. Waits killing me
I think mine is in the middle of the road in psych with a 3.5 GPA and 1 prerequisite in progress. I’m hoping for the best
Did anyone see on the ucsc website or assist where it says to be admitted into the major you have to get a B- (2.7) in statistics or (2.0) in Precalculus. But on their website, it says
To be admitted to the major, students must demonstrate the attainment of foundational skills by receiving a grade of at least B- in (a) Psychology 1 and (b) Psychology 2 (or Applied Mathematics and Statistics 5 or 7/L). Students who pass these courses but do not achieve the required level of proficiency (i.e., who receive a grade of C, C+, or P) have alternative means of demonstrating foundational skills by:
b) Completing Applied Mathematics and Statistics 5 or 7/L with a grade of B- or higher if the student did not receive a B- or higher in Psychology 2; or
© Completing Psychology 2 with a grade of B- or higher if the student did not receive a grade of B- or higher in Applied Mathematics and Statistics 5 or 7/L.
Does that mean a student could get an A or B in Precalculus and if they earned a C in statistics they can still be considered for the major?
Ugh no decision yet for me or my two friends, last year it looked like they rolled out every couple days…
@Lukelayle lol i’d hate to have to wait another couple days. It was hard enough waiting for today…
@futureuctransfer Well, I’m screwed. I got a C+ in stats and have an A in precalc but it’s IP instead of finished. I do remember seeing somewhere that students with a C in stats have to retake the class if admitted. I forgot where I saw that, but I did see it.
Edit: Nope. Never mind. I’m screwed. I got a C in stats and my precalc grade won’t be in to replace it. So, goodbye UCSC, I guess.
Well I’m waiting for the Cal acceptance on the 29th of April so a little more waiting can’t hurt…
@futureuctransfer Check with admissions. I had a lot of inconsistencies between what my community college said I needed and what UCSC said I needed for a Marine Bio major. They cleared it up for me and told me exactly what they needed for my major.
@100789 hope for the best! ive seen on many threads where they give transfers the chance to take it in the summer. Let’s just hope we don’t have to wait until April! I got a B in precalc and am taking stats right now so im hoping its enough. I’m waiting for Cal too, buts its a reach
@100789 I would also recommend reaching out and asking them about it, it can’t hurt!
@futureuctransfer I hope they let me retake it in the summer. I really want to get into UCSB, though. It’s now my #1. Berkeley used to be my top choice but I literally have a small chance of getting in. I have a 3.4 UC GPA, but a ton of ECs that I’m hoping offset it. I guess April 29th will be the day we all know what our fates will be, lmao.
@ananguiano I’m going to e-mail them and ask. I think, between the C in stats and the dicey academic history, I have a marginal chance at admission. I really like UCSC, but after being denied TAG from their school, I’m terrified I’m going to be full-out rejected by the end of the week. :-/
@Douglaspls Yeah, I’m a cog sci major as well. Still no admission decision for me either, so don’t worry, you’re not alone! What letter does your last name begin with? If last year is any indication, we probably wont receive any decisions until April rolls around. What did you apply for at UCSB?
