UCSC Fall 2016 Transfer Tread

@alshaikh I would honestly call them asap! You never know. If it’s not a major class it’s possible they could make an exception? Idk

I haven’t heard back… But I was so worried because I got rejected from my nearest school (SDSU). So I’ve been bummed and then not seeing ANYTHING from UCSC made me even more anxious. BUT I got accepted to my pretty much #1 UCSB!! So yeah, I hope the best for you all. I was thinking I had done something wrong with my application. Since nothing was looking good… PATIENCE. lol

Stats:
Major: Economics & Accounting
GPA: UC gpa: 3.8
IGETC: In progress
Applied: UCSC, UCSB, UCSD, UCD, SDSU
Rejected: SDSU
Accepted: UCSB

@Impatientone UCSC only released the decisions of applicants who fall into a specific category. Not receiving anything yet doesn’t mean anything. SDSU is a wild card these days, but if you have completed the prereqs for the other three UCs I would be shocked if they don’t all accept you. Congrats on UCSB.

My preferences at the moment are: UCB > UCLA/UCSD > UCSB > UCSC. So I am not too worried about when my UCSC decision will arrive so much as UCSD. Though if I didn’t get accept to either of my top 3, then there is a chance that UCSC could win me over considering it is three hours closer to home. .

Still waiting for UCSC decision. Here’s my stats.

Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.04
IGETC: complete by the end of spring
Pre-req: missing 2
Applied: UCR, UCSC, UCSB, UCI, UCM, CSUF, CSULB, CSULA, SFSU, CSUN
Accepted: UCR, CSULA, SFSU

Hey we are close in stats. And applied to 4 of the same UCs!

@uchopeful414 that’s awesome. Have you gotten any admission from 4 UCs beside UCR?

Nope:/ still waiting on SB and SC. And Davis. But even if Santa Cruz takes me I might not go. Housing is really important to me, and it seems like all UCSC apartments and housing requires co-inhabitants

@uchopeful414 yes housing is important also and the environment. Idk what the weather is like in UCSC. But I heard UC riverside is always hot.

Riverside heat is brutal. It was like 120 over here a few weeks ago during the heat wave. The only places I applied to though that would give me a single apartment with reasonable cost are SB, Davis and riverside. Riverside has a lot of openings and also gave me a butt load of financial aid. So i might stay there even over SB.

@uchopeful414 seriously? 120? That’s too intense. But I would still consider riverside over UCSC because it’s only a 1 1/2 hour way from home. And if they give me ton of financial aid awards. Still excited what UCSC has to say tho.

I was actually really looking forward to UCSC. The pictures of the campus look beautiful. All those trees. I want to get out of Southern California myself .-.

I wish housing was a little cheaper at UCSC  It’s further from home, but I worry I won’t be able to handle the weather at UCR

Does anyone know when the next batch of UCSC decisions are coming out? I’ve checked everyday for a week and haven’t heard anything. I want to say tonight at midnight is the next round, but I don’t know.

Yeah I’m won’t be able to handle the weather too at UCR. But at least I’ll be getting a good education. So idk yet.

One of the apartments has unlimited electricity so you can just run the AC all day!

@uchopeful414 UCSC’s campus is honestly amazing! I live like an hour away and I love Santa Cruz and the area around it. Only negative is I think limited housing is available at SC though

I’m really excited to visit the city/campus. Is anyone else going to Spring Spotlight?

You’re welcome to pick me up and take me with you…

I’m not sure whether to live off-campus or in the transfer community next year… Anyone else having a hard time deciding as well? I know it will be expensive either way. Has anyone heard anything about the transfer community at Porter? I personally am more of an independent, but feel like living on-campus will give me a better chance to meet people and get settled into the school, even if I’m just there for one quarter.

Oh, also, I was accepted!
