I’m getting multiple emails getting me pumped up for the 17th. Anyone have the same time as me? 2am?
@Countchocula25 meeee :-h just hoping they actually release it on the 17th and not their latest date…
Nice. Are you going to stay up till 2?
Nope, hoping to wake up to good news instead of possibly not being able to sleep because of bad news.
That’s a great idea pugz. I think that’s what I’m going to do as well. But from my recent experience with UCR I couldn’t sleep I was too excited .-.
I’m currently still waiting for UCR too…
I’m legit going to be awake whether I like it or not. My decision comes at 3AM. I haven’t been awake at 3AM in 100 years, so this will be an experience.
Wow, so they tell you guys at what time your decision will show up?
Yep. Depends on your last name. They give you a time between 12am-5am they will be released. Mine is at 2 am because my last name starts with H
That’s nice. I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I knew that my decision would go up at X time.
Did anyone else get an email regarding whether or not you’ll be taking pre-cal for their psyc major pre req? I know this is a silly question…but what should I say in regards to not taking the course!!! I’m not a math person and I’ve already TAG’ed to Davis. It just gives me major anxiety that anything I say will be sent to the UCs that I’ve applied to lol
@Emteaaa no.-. I’m a psych major
I didn’t get that e-mail either, @booberry25 and @Emteaaa. However, I do have it listed on my application that I’m taking it this semester. Did you list it that you’re planning to take it or no?
Hey everyone. Joining in. I too am a psych major. But received no email. @aepaige I did not put in the TAU I was going to be taking pre calc. I took this semester to do the pre reqs for Davis because I’m not very good at math and I’d prefer Davis over SC. @Emteaaa did you specify whether or not you were taking during spring?
@booberry25 @aepaige @poochindapooch I didn’t specify that I’d be taking pre-calc for UCSC. I TAG’ed to UC Davis and it’s my first choice so I’m going by my original course listings on my TAG contract which doesn’t include any math because I’m not a math person haha. I did respond to them today and they said that I’d be considered for admissions winter 2017 if I take the pre-calc class…but I’d like to transfer this year so I’ll probably not be getting an admission letter lol
It was pretty strange and random. Any thoughts on why they sent me that?
My guess is just as they said. You’ll get admitted for the winter instead of the fall. But hey it’s somewhat of an acceptance right? Now that you said that I’m kind of glad I didn’t get that email lol but at the same time I do because my Gpa isn’t so hot.
If your heart is set on Davis, I wouldn’t sweat it, @Emteaaa. Was your TAG for Davis approved? I did TAG for UCSC and was denied because I didn’t state that I was going to be taking pre-calc. My current trig teacher, a UCSC alum, says the UCs are making psych students take calc and/or pre-calc to try to weed out who’s serious about the major and who’s just doing it because they couldn’t think of anything else.
That’s interesting. But what about people who are so bad at math they can’t pass and don’t get a degree!! Cuz that would be my predicament. I’m so bad at math I couldn’t even pass intermediate algebra. I was just lucky enough to place into stats after withdrawing from algebra 3 times.
Know I’m late to this, but here are my stats. I don’t really see any Cogsci majors in any of the transfer threads.
Major: Cognitive Science
GPA: 3.51
IGETC: Done this spring
Personal statement: College Advisor liked it/10
ECs: Honors program, did research for the Honors transfer council at UCI. Not all that much, really.
Major: Psychology
UC GPA: 3.32
Major GPA: 3.5 (I got a C in stats last semester, which was disappointing)
Prerequisites: Done Except for Calculus
TAG for UCSC: Yes, but was denied due to having Psych 1, 2, and Math 3 in progress rather than finished.
Personal statement: 9/10, but I heard it doesn’t matter because they only read them if you’re on the cusp of admission.
ECs: President of two clubs, member of another, employed as a College Relations Ambassador, and was once an intern for 7 Cups like OP is (though I don’t know how highly they’re going to value that due to the fact that it’s an online internship instead of an in-person one).
I’m honestly afraid that I’m going to get denied. I have this really sketchy academic history that goes from super awful to great after taking a two-year break from school, but then my grades dipped super low last semester because I took too many classes at once (I got a 2.95 GPA after having straight As for three semesters). I guess I’ll find out at 3 AM on Thursday :\
(Edit: I just noticed we have the same school as our picture, OP!)
