@loyalfan49 good luck. what other schools are you applying to?
@phil067 thank you! You too, and cpp, davis irvine
Wbu?
Hey guys!! I just checked this morning and I am officially accepted!!
I was really nervous since I got a D in precalc last fall quarter so they emailed me to update my winter grades. I retook the class and got a C.
GPA: 3.4
Major: psychology
TAG: UCSC but TAG was cancelled due to my D in the fall so that’s why I had to wait for regular application.
Also, guys, when I logged in I almost rolled my eyes and closed the screen because it was formatted just like the normal welcome message and I thought I hadn’t gotten in yet so LOOK CAREFULLY!
Also I know it’s random but just in case anyone is wondering my last name starts with H.
Good luck everyone!!!
@phil067 I hope not cause I submitted mine on Jan 3rd
@loyalfan49 you feel me? Haha
Congratulations, @soophiieekh! At least I’m not the only one who’s rolling my eyes at the application page everyday haha.
@loyalfan49 all of the UC’s except merced and riverside. i visited Davis a few weeks ago on spring break. It’s a really nice school.
I live about 15 min from cpp and a lot of my friends go there and are studying engineering. From what I’ve heard its a good school and classes are challenging
@phil067 wow thats nice!
Good vibes incoming homie hoping the best for us
Rejected!
Major: CS
GPA: 3.60
Major GPA: 4.0
EC’s: work
IGETC: yep
TAG: no
Prereq’s: didn’t complete the physics sequence
Applied to: UCSC, UCI, UCD, UCLA, UCSD
Accepted: UCI
Denied: UCSC
I already SIR’d to UCI a while ago since it’s been my dream school. Good luck to everyone, and don’t let my stats put your hopes down. If you finished your major preps and have a solid GPA, I’m sure you guys will get accepted!
@shooguu there is no physics sequence required to transfer for computer science at UCSC. Congrats on UCI though!
Oh yeah you’re right, I think I mixed that up with another school
Edit: I didn’t finish Discrete Structures and Intro to Java (wasn’t offered at my school)
@shooguu sorry to hear that man, good luck at Uci!
Btw for uci, what classes did you have completed for cs? Calc 1,2 and which programming courses?
(Kind of confused about the requirements)
@muchConflicted @loyalfan49 Thanks!
Basically you have to complete Calc I, Calc II, and one year of computer science courses (excluding intro classes and other classes such Visual basic and C). So I took: Intro to Visual Basic (This one doesn’t count), C++ Methodology I, C++ Methodology II, and Computer Organization and Architecture. Also, you should try to finish as many lower-division courses as possible, such as Linear Algebra, Data Structures, Boolean Algebra, etc. (all of them are on assist)
@shooguu damn man, I thought my chances to get in ucsc was pretty good until I saw your stats. Congrats on Irvine though, I’m still waiting to hear back from both schools.
That is crazy…you don’t see students get into UCI and not UCSC often. Good luck at UCI @shooguu
@shooguu thanks man! I have objc c++ taking data strucs and have calc 1 linear
@shooguu sorry last question, does it really affect anything if one of my object oriented c++ course isnt listed on assist?( the same corse number but for java is listed so i think it should be good) but im not sure now
don’t worry too much, I think they’re carefully selecting their applicants this year.
@loyalfan49 So one your CS courses isn’t articulated?
@shooguu yeah, but the same course taught in java articulates. Idk why, even though this class is fundamentals c++ basically objc oriented programming in c++
So i was like why doesn’t it articulate (even though the site says objc oriented so i think it should)
But im worried
@loyalfan49 I’m not sure if I’m understanding your sitution, I’m probably not. But I think for a course to be transferable from a community college it has to be “assist certified”. You should probably ask a counselor, or get contact with someone from whichever UC you’re planning on attending.
