Also still pending for physics, no tag. I had told myself march 17 that it’s okay if I don’t get in, but now I really, really want to go to ucsc since this wait started.
I’m mostly looking forward to finally being able to tell people who keep asking

To be honest, I didn’t think I’d get in because my gpa was as low as 2.3 once upon a time. I worked my ass off to get it up to a 3.23, allwhile working full-time/part-time jobs throughout the years. I’ve been in community college since 2012. I’m a transfer student at 25. Im probably the oldest one here. Nevertheless, I’m still excited as hell!
Major: Philosophy
GPA: 3.23 after TAU
IGETC: missing English, will be done after this semester
TAG: no
Applied: UCSC, UCSB, UCLA, UCB (never hurts to try), CSUCI, CSULB, CSUN, HSU
Accepted: UCSC, all the CSU’s
The rest are pending, no rejections so far.

@phil067 I’m in LA county so UCLA is my first choice. Being admitted to UCSC just gives me hope that maybe, just maybe UCLA will give me a shot. I know my GPA is low and it’s a shot in the dark but I took a lot of time writing my personal essays to make sure my struggles hit the reviewers right in the heart lol. We’ll see. What about you?

@whatislife5 ideally UCLA but realistically UCSC. If I get into UCD or UCSB I’d consider it but it feels like a reach. And my major is anthropology!

@whatislife5 I’m 25 and I’m in a similar situation! My gpa was as low as 2.8 and I have around 20 W’s. Brought up my gpa to 3.57. Still haven’t heard back though.

hey @cspoon1126 and @whatislife5 I’m 24 and my GPA was at 1.09 a couple years ago. It’s taken me a long time to figure out how to manage time between working full time and going to school, but I think I finally got it down. ( : be proud of your accomplishments, because it is easy to give up when you realize you need to make a change for the better.

I got accepted to both ucsd and ucd in a span of 30 minutes and still nothing on my ucsc portal sigh

It’s really nice to see other older students with a similar story. I’m 29 and after being surrounded by way younger students (and even grad students who are younger than me), it’s nice to know I’m not actually alone!
