@nikkitsztsz Why not appeal? Either way it won’t hurt you and at least you gave it a shot. Just make sure your appeal makes a good argument and would be eye opening to the admission officers.
In 2015, I appealed when I was waitlisted (applied out of high school) and sadly, my appeal got rejected, and no freshman applicant was let in off the waitlist.
It was a huge punch in the face two years ago but I just moved on and tried again. Don’t be too discouraged. Good luck and I wish you the best!
I am eagerly awaiting this email! because i’m so nervous they weren’t able to articulate my first quarter of college which was done as CSU east bay and i’d have to make up 3 courses and i already need another elective to make 60 credits already. I’m conflicted if this is the case because if I go ahead with SF state I wouldn’t have to repeat any courses.
@mmkelly1 You should try calling or e-mailing a UCSC representitive from the website @muchConflicted gave.
I called a couple hours ago and left a message, then e-mailed a little bit ago, still nothing.
@mmkelly1 I live in SF, very close to SFSU’s campus and it’s really expensive and hard to find places to live off campus in SF. But, if you can afford being in SF, then that’s great haha.
Could you take summer school to make your fall schedule less heavy, if you do decide on UCSC?
@muchConflicted I live really nearby SF state as it is but I’m nervous about parking! the lot is insanely packed and the side streets have limitations and are hard to find spots. That’s a good point about summer school it would be easier to break up the units that way. I just don’t feel like I want to retake my first semester of english and biology, you know? I hope that isn’t the case, I would have thought that CSU east bay credits would be just as transferable as a CCC? I’m still just speculating though I haven’t heard back from my rep on what my requirements are.
@mmkelly1 ohhh, that’s just your assumption. Well honestly I went to a private uni and those private credits definitely do not articulate over at all. I know public uni credits usually go along well with other public uni’s. In short, I expected UCSC was going to have me take a ton of extra courses but it turned out to only be one needed course
I honestly think you’ll be fine! After living in SF for two years, I just really want to get out to a more chill and smaller city. That’s why UCSC is so appealing to me haha.
just like at a CC, some classes transfer and others don’t. they are evaluated on a case by case basis and you may have an opportunity to contest one that is disallowed.
@suenos53 Berkeley is expected to come out on either the 17th or 18th, according to last year’s release. Idk about ucla, but the school has already sent out invitations
@suenos53 I’m deciding between Berk(Econ) and LA (Biz Econ). If I get the regents for UCLA and not for Berk, I’d be torn on which school to attend because I intend on minoring in CS, and UCLA does not offer a minor in CS.
@muchConflicted I called my admissions rep in my area and she was less than helpful. Told me she couldn’t tell me anything and that I need to accept my offer and wait for them to email me details about classes I need to take for Winter. Also something about reapplying. I told her I was concerned with how Fall registration has opened up at my CC and she told me to call Janet. I got an email from Janet the same day letting me know they’d email me at the end of May. I can’t wait. So I called her and she said the Director has to evaluate everything and she knows that registrations opened up for many people so they I need to sit tight and wait. That the end of May is just a last deadline. But they are hoping to finish before then. So yay more waiting.
