UCSC Fall 2018 transfer

uci released before 5 and it was almost all rejections

I’m literally so anxious I’m checking the portal on my phone in class. What’s the latest you guys think it could take??

school that doesnt give an F. past 5 and no response. good to know they care.

Their admission office closed at 4. I don’t even know who should I ask.

tbh its just rejections here on out. everyone they wanted have already been accepted.

Maybe midnight?

what a joke

@daisy181998 yea hopefully by midnight! I don’t wanna get negative yet, even if it’s a rejection

They do still sending acceptance on 1/5 last year.

1/5??? really?? the final day is suppose to be today

@ashyashy You can checked on last year thread. This is my second year applied for UC. UCSC do running a little late each year.

You know, @nikkitsztsz is right. Via the Reddit thread for this somebody told me “I got accepted last year as a transfer and I did not find out until early May that I was accepted.” and another person said “I transferred to UCSC last year and submitted the application on the last day… UCSC informed me that I got accepted on April 30 at night.”

Made an account just to say that I called admissions today because I haven’t heard anything about my application and the woman i spoke to told me that there was a problem with their system and none of the decisions they made this weekend were uploaded today and said to just keep checking but she wasn’t sure when exactly it would be fixed. She also said that they haven’t even finished evaluating all the transfer apps and the deadline was extended until the 15th.

Wow. Thanks for the update and calling. The delay for technical reasons within the system is understandable but not evaluating all transfer apps? That’s just incompetent. Leaves me uneasy that some of the transfer apps are going to be finished in a rush. Sorry for the rant but I turned in my UC app about 1-2 weeks before the due date and I’ve been hoping to get a decision soon after March 17th when they were initially rolling decisions. Hey well at least I’m not the only one left in the dark regardless of being admitted or rejected. Stay strong guys.

@Brada96 Thank you so much for the information!! Really helpful.

the deadline was extended to the 15th? meaning we might not hear back till may 15th? or are you talking about the application extension ucsc, ucm, and ucr all did back in the fall?

I don’t think its a bad reflection of UCSC. I know a few people in admissions in colleges around the Bay Area and te’ve all said this year was really difficult in evaluation applicants because they got so many, and quite frankly, they are all the same: good GPAs, good ECs, good essays. Quite a few schools have extended their deadlines because they simply are having a hard time choosing. To me, no answer is better than a rejection.

Hang in there! You still have a chance!

my portal shows this message now
"With our increase in transfer applications, UC Santa Cruz is still reviewing applicants for fall 2018. Our evaluation of your application will conclude no later than May 15.

The Office of Admissions appreciates your patience."

OK, those of us who are still waiting, what do we do now? Other UCs and CSUs require us to accept by today, shoul I just give up on Santa Cruz or hold out? I feel that my application is solid and have felt really sure I would be accepted to UCSC and still sorta feel that way despite this situation making me nervous, but if I don’t accept admission at another school today and then I do end up getting rejected I end up with no enrollment. Should I enroll somewhere and just accept that I have to lose my deposit? Also, anyone have an opinion on SFSU? UCSC is my top choice as I want a school with a good program that is not too far from SF where I live.

My stats btw:
Major: Computer Science
Some credits from out of state, some from CCC
GPA: 3.9
Prereqs: Done by end of spring including CMPE 12
Essays: pretty good, I’m a good writer with a chronic illness
ECs: Worked full time as a software engineer for three years while going to school part time, co-founder of college’s CS club and organized some events for getting girls into STEM (also am woman in tech lol), performing acrobat
SAT with writing: 2200
Accepted: UCR (with regents), SJSU, SFSU
Rejected: UCB, UCSD, UCSB (I’m sure prereq reasons.)

Gulp.

A big thank you to the kind person who called admissions the other day! The info you shared definitely helped me, and I’m sure others, feel at ease!

@stickyperson And UC’s have their decision dates on June 1st, or at least some do. Are CSU’s and Riverside’s today? If you don’t mind riverside, at least you’ll be set there if all else fails. But I enjoyed SFSU myself when I visited. I can’t speak for the major, though. I would take it as a matter of whether or not Riverside is okay for you in the worst case scenario.

Losing my deposit would not be an issue if I were in your shoes; Especially if it means I’ll be losing it in favor of Santa Cruz!
