I am a cc student with a 3.00 GPA and I finished my IGETC. I’m applying to UCSC for fall 2020 as a Neuroscience major. Do you think I’ll get in? I will hopefully ace my fall classes which will get my gpa to about 3.2. Would that be good enough?
You would qualify for TAG with a 3.0 GPA as long as you will complete all the Neuroscience pre-reqs by the end of next spring. If your GPA is 3.0, and you’ve completed all the required courses (English + Math), then you’d be guaranteed admission. Here is a link discussing more:

Does anyone know what this new text on the linked UCSC website means for future TAG participants?
“Beginning with fall 2019, UCSC will no longer be reviewing TAG applications during the months of October and November to provide students with early notification of their TAG decision. Students who submit a TAG and UC application by the deadline(s) will receive priority review during the admission cycle.”
Does this mean TAG applicants would only receive confirmed admission during the normal Transfer admission cycle in April/May rather than the notification currently provided in October/November?
@diegodavis Yes, it would mean that applicants will hear back during the regular decision time instead of during October/November. It would align them with some of the others UCs - I applied TAG at UCSB this year and they don’t notify students until April.
Thank you! I was just trying to figure out if by TAGing a ccc student could know before Christmas if they have a guaranteed spot or if they need to wait till April. It sounds like ccc students can know things for certain by Christmas (tag accepted) but do not get admission acceptance paperwork until April. I’m all set.
@diegodavis: The only UC campus that has consistently provided an early notification of a TAG acceptance has been UC Davis. The UC TAG matrix is going under revision so there may other changes down the road.
