UCSC Revocation?

Hi All,
I got into UCSC and it is my number one choice. I just noticed what I consider to be a very minor error on my application but admissions is making me scared, so I thought I'd ask here. Five years ago, I took an English course which I failed. I put it on the application, F and all. However, I realized that I put the wrong course code in (I have insane transcripts with like 120 credits). I put Eng. 210 vs. Eng. 202. Does that matter? It clearly was not a pre-req. as I failed the course. I actually think that the course I put down is transferable whereas the course I took is not. However, I talked to an admissions person; they told me to email so that it would be in my records. I did that and just received an email saying that I need to fill out the change of schedule form but the form is only for changes in 2012-2013. Nothing has changed this semester from what is in my application, I did the TAU, and I am getting 2 A's and 1 B as of midterm grades. I just made a stupid error on the application. I called again today and she said that I was accepted into the school because of what was on my application so she cannot guarantee that I will not be rescinded BUT I FAILED THE COURSE and they know I failed.

Am I just being ridiculous? I know UCSC is quick to rescind, but I really hope a genuine error would not be cause? How can I fix this? Do I just keep emailing until someone actually reads the email and doesn't just send a generic form? Thanks for any input.

I’m sure you’ll be fine, and you did the right thing by telling the school. Little errors like this happen all the time.

And a quick life lesson, never guarantee anything, ever. If you guarantee something without certain proof, you just get into trouble, legal or otherwise. She did the right thing by not guaranteeing that you won’t be rescinded.

What if somewhere along the trail you are rescinded? You would probably call back and say someone told you that you guaranteed admission.

And to the part about the generic forms and not getting human responses, welcome to the UC system.

Thanks for answering. I totally understand not guaranteeing, but i guess I was expecting “oh that’s not a big deal.” Do you think I should re-email or leave it alone? It’s clear whoever received the email did not actually read it.

It can’t hurt you to email them again

It doesn’t sound like a big deal. You reported an F in an English which is what you got in a slightly different English class. And you notified them about your mistake - I doubt they’ll make a big deal about it

Thanks. Yeah, I must have developed dyslexia when doing my transcripts. I also did Math 081 instead of 091, and two other random transposition of numbers. However, grades were all the same and the titles of the courses are correct; I think it’s pretty clear that while putting down my 40+ classes, I made some clerical errors.

I called the admissions office again and he said he doubts they’re a big deal, especially because they treat classes that are over 2 years old very differently than recent courses. He said “If there’s a problem we’ll contact you. If not, you’re fine.” He also said most likely, they’ll just update the transcripts, especially because I highly doubt more than 1 course, if any, of the units I made mistakes on, are transferable.
