Is anyone enrolling (or not enrolling) in the UCSC student insurance program? I currently have Covered CA and want to know if anyone can give me some advice on whethe or not I should waive UCSC’s offer of health coverage or accept it.
It is known that the student health insurance is expensive in the university: more than $ 800 per semester. Limitation select another insurance company is: it must have a contract with the medical establishment, located not farther than 30 miles from the university. Who has insurance certificates, distinct from the university? Can you recommend?
It’s probably better insurance than covered CA. It includes dental and optical. Cost averages $220/month. How does the price compare to your covered CA?
Many students have alternative insurance certificates worth 450 dollars a year.
I would just waive it honestly, unless your hometown is far away from the school(like 3+ hour drive). Neither me nor my friends found any reason to use the student health insurance and waited till the holidays before visiting the dentist or going to a doctor for a routine check up.
There are not many situations in which you would be needing to visit the campus health clinics if you don’t have any serious issues with your health. For me, I just didn’t think the 2k+ price tag was worth the trouble.
You do not really understand the problem: the university requires that affiliated with the insurance company medical facility was a distance of about 30 miles. But not at a distance of 3 hours away.
