UCSC student want to transfer...HELP...chance me :)

Hi, I am currently a first year student at UCSC. After the first quarter, I ended it off with a 3.56 gpa and I am currently an undeclared physi science and math major. After moving from SoCal to NorCal, I just feel like its a hassle going home every break and the plane tickets are really expensive. Therefore, I am trying to transferring to a uc closer to home or back to SoCal.

As a freshman, I got rejected by most of the UC's but I got into UCSC and now I am trying to transfer to either UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, or UCI.

Do I have a chance to get in?
What should I do?

My advice (for your best chance to transfer) is to drop out of UCSC after winter quarter and start at a CC close to your home in SoCal. This way, you will be considered a CC transfer applicant and will be given priority. For UCSD, UCI and UCSB you can even look into signing a TAG (transfer admission guarantee). As for UCLA, keep your GPA at 3.5-4.0 and you’ll have a good chance as a Math and Physical Science major.

so, i have no chance from transferring from a uc to a uc?

You have a chance but it’s SIGNIFICANTLY lower than CC transfer.

Before you do this, discuss it with a few people, preferably counselors or something. After you have a certain amount of units at a 4 year, you are no longer CC transfer eligible. You do have a moderate-low chance of getting into a UC, but your grades have to be a bit better. You should try for UCD/UCSB/UCI. Not UCLA/UCB, grades are not good enough. UCSD you have a slim chance

Go to Cabrillo. Its a terrific CC, one of the best, and sure to prepare you for transfer down there. I have a TAG agreement for next fall with UCSD thru Cabrillo, though Berkeley and UCLA are my 1 and 2 choices, respectively. Plus, its cheaper than continuing at UCSC, but I agree, check to make sure your UC units aren’t too high to disqualify you.

I think you still have a chance as a UC to UC transfer. You should pick one major (Chem, Geo, etc) and work on fulfilling the pre-reqs.
