ucsc tag to engineering declinded o.O?

it says at the current time i don't have enough foundation courses, but by the end of spring 2012 i will have all 7 + extra.

I got the same response, I am very confused of why it got denied x_x

after rereading it. are they waiting for the January grade updates to see how many more classes we’ve completed?

Mine says I have to re apply through general admissions =/

oh whelps look like i totally missed that part of Jack baskin tag.

Attend a California community college.
Meet all published TAG criteria.
Have at least a 3.00 GPA at the time that the TAG agreement is written.
** Complete at least 60 semester (90 quarter) transferable units (including all minimum UC eligibility requirements).**
Complete all lower-division foundation course requirements for their specific major with a minimum 3.00 GPA by the end of spring term prior to fall enrollment.

=/ will have 61 after this semster and 74 when i transfer. other wise i meet all the other criteria @@. come to think of it how do you do a jr yr tag to jack baskin. if you do the normal 19 Fall + 19 Spring + 9 summer.

Wow I totally missed that too. I have 78 credits atm -_-. That is a weird rule, I thought most Tags just take a certain amount of GPA and 90 BY the time you transfer

unless it’s means to say by the time you transfer. Than i have no idea =o.

http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/transfer-students/bsoe-tag12-final2.pdf</a></p>

“Have at least a 3.0 GPA and 30 transferable semester units completed at the time that the TAG agreement is written.”

Nope, the flier, assuming it hasn’t changed in the past month, says 30 credits by submission time and 60 (90 units) by transfer time.

Same boat, by the way. 3.8 gpa, all transfer prereqs completed or planned for, 65.6 credits planned/completed, and denied for Computer Science. I assume (well, hope) the TAG program is fairly selective and general admissions are easier to get into.

@@ im so confused right now. So does this mean we got accepted to ucsc, got denied from our major will reapply with updated class and hopefully get readmitted because he would have all our foundation class done or ip by spring? @@

apparently if i read the engineering school correctly if you get denied from them through regular admission you can still go to sc, but there would be really no points since you can’t get into another other major in the engineering school.

I think its kinda stupid how they do that, I hope the they are nicer about the general admission.

Haha, I’m just as confused. Figures when searching for answers all that can be found is other confused people looking for answers.

Far as I can tell UCSC has accepted us, but not to our majors. Anyone know how changing a major works? Worst case scenario it could still make sense to go there if a semester in it’s possible to swap to the appropriate major. Otherwise it does seem a bit silly.

(Alternatively, the reply I got said to try for regular admissions to the school, so there’s still a chance to apply and get into an engineering major that way.)

so should i apply as undecided and swap when i get there or apply as my intended major and than can’t apply to anything in engineer if i get denied?

I don’t understand why if they reject your tag, why would you consider you through general admissions?

TAG requires a 3.0 GPA. General admission requires a 2.4 GPA. That suggests that TAG has higher standards. The email also says something to the tune of “needing more information”, and I guess acceptance/rejection is farther away for normal applications? Who knows. Certainly not me. :\ But all the UC schools use the same application, so may as well apply again.

This is frustrating. -_-

wait, if u meet the minimum requirement for ucsc, i think it is nearly impossible for u to get rejected.

i mean UCSC, not UCSD or anything…are you sure u met the minimum? will u finish igetc? prereq? if yes, then ***, ■■■■!!!

yes. My igetc already finished. my remaining foundation courses are calc 1/2/discrete im currently taking calc 1 and im already signed up for 2 and discrete next semester. i have a 3.1 right now in my major gpa which is above the 3.0 required by the end of spring.

Let’s see…

GPA: 3.8
Things I’ve completed: English 1A, Comp Sci 1 (C++), Physics 1 (calc), Calc 2, Calc 3, Discrete Structures, Linear Algebra, Intro to Psychology, Gen. Chem 101, Physics 2 (calc).
Taking now: English 1B, Physics C (calc), Differential Equations
Planned: Comp Sci 2 + 3 (java), English C (composition), Intro to Circuits (with lab), Physics D, and… I think there’s two more I can’t remember.
(Adds up to about 65.67credits (98.50 units))

Required (General TAG): 2 english, 1 math, 4 science/humanities/whatever, 60 credits
Status: Accepted by TAG.

Computer Science BS requirements: Comp Sci 1, Comp Sci 3, Discrete Structures, Calculus 1-3 (1-2?), specifically says NOT to complete IGETC, (other courses are listed to graduate, but not as foundation classes)

Status: Denied entry to major. Since this topic was posted today, I’d assume others are in a similar situation.

So… yeah. Apparently meeting all the requirements means getting a big “**** you” from the school of engineering. Unless someone is kind enough to spot something I’ve missed?

Same here, 3.9 speaking, all complete but Discrete Math (planned for next Spring)
I couldn’t laugh more than this lol. Did almost everyone get denied?
I should have tagged to another school…

getting trolled by admission mmmmmmmm.
