Hey, this is realllyyyy stressing me out right now. I am stuck deciding between santa cruz and pitzer. I am out of state, so ucsc would be quite expensive. I am currently undecided but visited both schools this past weekend. I really liked them both, for different reasons that is. Pitzer seemed to have a very nice SMALL and warm atmosphere. UCSC on the other hand had a very fun beautiful feel to it. Which one is a better school?

They are very similar except for size and surroundings. Even the consortium is similar to the system of colleges at UCSC. I would base this decision on size of campus and climate/aesthetics as well as prestige if that is important to you. Do you want beachy forest? Is a smaller campus more your style? If you can get a visit in to both before 5/1 do so.

In my opinion, Pitzer, but I love the small school environment. I'd rather have actual separate colleges instead of the several separate "residential colleges" that UCSC has.

yeah, i keep switching between schools, i can't make up my mind! it's like i feel that pitzer will almost be like high school all over again because it's small and two of my good friends are going there too. are all of the class sizes huge at santa cruz, i just don't want to be seen as just another number in college.

Many lower division classes will be big esp in Psychology, Bio and Math. My largest was 400+ and that was years ago but the smaller discussion session are 10-25 students. These are lead by teaching assistants. by the time I was taking upper division my classes were the same or smaller in size than my high school classes. Plus all of my foreign language classes were small as were my lit and history classes.

pitzer > sc
