I just got accepted into both UCSC and UCD as a computer science major. Which school do you guys think is better and why?

They’re both great schools, but UCD is ranked slightly higher than UCSC. I believe UCD is in the Top 30 category, while UCSC is Top 50. My numbers could be off so you’ll have to double-check the ranks on google. Either way, I have many friends who attended both schools as CS majors and are all fairly successful post-graduation. It basically comes down to which school you like better, and what you make of the experience.

If you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats and have you finish IGETC/all pre-reqs? I’m a CS major as well and am considering both Davis and Santa Cruz.

I had about 3.2GPA when I did my application, IGETC is not done because I failed a class in Winter so my schedule is a little different. I did notify them that I failed a class so I am waiting on their response. I had a pretty good reason for failing so I am hoping everything goes well. As for pre reqs, I completed everything and more. I will have about 120 quarter units when I transfer.

I think the better question is, which school do YOU think is better? They both have very different environments, so I would pick the school you think you would enjoy life more at. You are going to be extremely busy either way, and I seriously think rankings are BS.
