I have received admission offer from UCR and San Jose for business program and wait listed for UCSC. Can you please help me decide on which is the better program considering opportunities, exposure and ability to graduate with in 4 years.
Thank you so much!!!
I’d pick UCSC IF you get in…Is there a difference in price though?
Since I am wait listed not sure if I can get in. What would be your choice from the remaining - UCR and San Jose?
Do you live in SJ? If not, how would you pay for housing? It’s incredibly expensive if you wouldn’t commute.
Otherwise, UCR is a good university and you should seriously consider it.
UC Riverside is the fastest growing campus of any UC and moving up the ranks! Is Top 100 in US News Business 2018 National Ranks…#77 (SOBA Undergraduate), and #93 (Anderson MBA). What is your specific major? The best of all three for sure in Business Administration (Berkeley and Irvine only other UC’s to have it)! San Jose State has some good programs and more cost effective. However, UC Riverside being part of the University of California System will definitely hold more national and international recognition. Take a tour of all locations you are seriously interested in which should help solidify your decision.
I am applying for business management. Planning to visit both UCR and San Jose to make a decision. Thank you for guidance.
I live 40 miles from SJSU. Wondering if that makes any difference in choosing SJSU vs UCR?
SJSU is a great school as well. Would be much more cost effective and you can commute. A BIG factor in your decision there!
You can’t commute 40miles without major impact on your studies.
Visit UCR.
Did you get into UCSC?
I got waitlisted for UCSC.
There is a huge difference between a UC and a Cal State. Cal State schools concentrate on teaching practical work skills in Undergraduate because they assume the majority of graduates will enter the workplace after completing their BA or BS. Hence, Cal State schools only offer BS, BA and Masters degrees. .UC schools emphasis at the Bachelor level is focused more toward theoretical learning, the assumption being that most UC grads will pursue a higher degree before entering the workplace. So in addition to Bachelors and Masters degrees, the UC’s grant Doctorate and Professional degrees. So, the systems are viewed much differently by employers. If it’s business you want to pursue, I’d consider any UC with plans to pursue an advanced degree upon graduation.
Definitely visit UCR…commuting at SJSU would be more cost effective, but I kind of overlooked the “40 miles away” distance which is quite far…you will be spending too much time on the road unless you move closer to the campus.
^and not that cost effective if you add wear and tear to the car + cost of gas + time loss which could be used studying or working
