Hello, I was just taken off of San Diego’s waitlist and have until Friday to accept admission. I applied as a computer science major but was unable to be directly admitted into the major (they put me down as an interdisc. computing and the arts major - which I will just switch to undeclared). From what I heard, it is extremely difficult/nearly impossible to switch into an impacted major later on at UCSD. Should I just go to Santa Cruz, where I was directly admitted into comp sci? And possibly transfer from Santa Cruz to a better UC later on? Or should I risk going to UCSD just for its prestige?
All UCs are impacted particular the top 3. I would go to UCSC for CS. I did work with somebody from UCSC and I thought she was very good and friendly.
@DrGoogle, thank you for your reply. I decided to commit to UCSD and changed interdisciplinary computing and the arts into mathematics - computer science.
