Anyone got off the waitlist from uc santa cruz? Because I just got accepted off the waitlist today!

me too CS:GD major

Can you put what was in the email?

Dear ______:

I am very pleased to send you this e-mail about your status on the UCSC waitlist. We have been closely monitoring the acceptance rate of our admitted students and feel that we can offer a few of our waitlisted students admission for the fall 2013 term – you are one of those select few, so congratulations on your admission to UC Santa Cruz!

Your status in the MyUCSC portal will change either later today or early tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, I wanted to let you know as soon as possible. Once your status in the portal is updated, you will be able to accept your offer of admission by the May 1 National Candidates’ Reply Deadline. I know this is a quick turnaround, but I also know you were very motivated to attend our campus.

As an admitted student, you will receive the same considerations as all of our admitted frosh. You’ll be guaranteed two years of university housing, and we’ve alerted our Financial Aid Office so they can post your preliminary aid offer (if applicable) as quickly as possible in the portal.

Please feel free to contact my office at admissions@ucsc.edu if you have any questions about your status or accepting your offer of admission. In the meantime, I again congratulate you on this accomplishment.

Sincerely,

Michael McCawley
Director of Admissions
UC Santa Cruz

Accepted too! As an English major I believe. The only unfortunate thing is I now have to weigh UCSC (my dream school) against CSULB another great school that I have already sunk 600 dollars into.

congrats guys! do any of u know the best dorms or colleges at ucsc?

I got in too!! I’m so shocked. I really hope this isn’t some practical joke.

@aznboyivan depends on who you are, though I know where I"m probably going to end up

Got accepted as well! I appealed my rejection, then got put on the waitlist, now I’m in! Congrats to all.

Accepted! I just hope they have a great financial aid package, or i’ll be so crushed
But that aside, i feel so blessed to get in from the waitlist. I just need to cancel my SIR to UCR, and i hope it’ll process by may 1st!! D: Unfortunately, there’s no easy button to cancel

Can someone post here when their fin aid package comes?

Got an email tonight (Sunday) to check my fin aid offer. They work fast!

Just got in! so excited!

Got accepted and I will most likely accept the offer :)

Sorry if I seem like a stalker but did they seriously let you know as early as April? I thought you have to wait until May to find out.

I was very encouraged reading this thread as I was looking for hope for my daughter’s admission to UCSC for fall 2014. Gave me hope to realize people heard back around April 26th, last year. Yes, you do get accepted off of the wait list. My daughter was devastated when she was declined but waitlisted for UCSC this year… She found out she just got in, this Friday, April 18! There is hope for wait listed students! Thank goodness!

@jprmom Did she send in an appeal? Also if you don’t mind me asking what were her stats and the major she applied for?

I’m getting sorta anxious because I didn’t appeal and maybe I should’ve. My sister currently attends, I’ve visited and I really want to go next year. At this rate, I’m assuming UCSC isn’t going to let us know until mid-May

@kindfine It’s okay, I didn’t appeal either mainly because I missed the deadline but also since I didn’t have anything “compelling” and I thought it was more for rejected students. Last year they let people know on April 26, May 1, and May 4 (idk if there were other dates). Keep in mind they may be waiting until after today because SIR deadline is 11:59:59 so they won’t have an official account of how many they can let in, IF they can let in. I feel like last year since they didn’t get many SIRS and it looked like they could let everyone off the waitlist in, they started early but I guess this doesn’t apply the same way this year. However the year before they didn’t let anyone in and this year they accepted and waitlisted more students than last year so don’t be overconfident seeing how unpredictable it can be. I feel like we should find out the results within the next two weeks so good luck to you!

@chs2014 check your UCSC portal. I was denied admission. It’s a bit upsetting because even though I was accepted to many private universities, I couldn’t accept any of their offers because of the dismal financial aid awards. My last option was UCSC. My plans are a bit different now but I’m not giving up just yet. UCSC missed their opportunity with me and I’ll work hard enough to transfer to Berkeley. Good luck!

I didn’t get in either :(
