Winter 2010 schedule is out =p

Is anyone from Southern California transferring up to UCSC this winter?? Looking for moral support, haha.

Found this!

Hey Allisooooooooooooooooooooon! I’m transferring from So Cal. The valley, to be (kinda) exact. What are you gonna be majoring in?

I’m also transferring from so cal, Pasadena area :).

Hey fellow so-californians! I’m gonna be majoring in Biology/Pre-med. I’m also looking into the Health Sciences major…What are you guys gonna be majoring in? Are you guys going up to Winter Orientation on Dec. 11?

Yep, I’ll absolutely be there, you? I’ll be majoring in politics, with either a minor or a double major in philosophy. Are you excited to get out of Rancho Cucamonga or what?

New Winter Students: Housing applications will be available starting November 16 :D

lol you guys are all excited to get out of SoCal! I <3 SoCal! I only get to go down there a few times a year though D:

@allisooon did you finish all pre-reqs for bio?.. and are you planning to take a prep course for the MCAT or study on your own? :]

If housing app is available tomorrow for us, then our college affiliation assignments must be coming out tomorrow as well :). Finally!

Sweet! Think it’ll be up at midnight, like the first batch of admissions decisions?

So, what was everyone’s top 3 choices of college affiliation? I won’t be living on campus, but here’s mine:

Ten

Nine

Kresge

Btw people, if you haven’t yet, and you’re a winter 2010 transfer to UCSC, join up!

My top three were 10, 9, and crown

Hey, college affiliations are up! I got College Ten! :]

Just go to [UC Santa Cruz - Colleges and University Housing Services](http://housing.ucsc.edu) then click on the “apply now for student housing” button on your right hand side, then log in. Start the application/contract, your decision is mentioned on the 3rd page of the application. Go check and post here!

I was assigned Porter :).

Still trying to decide on which housing I would like to ask for (Porter [single], Village, or University Inn [single]). Unfortunately the single request probably will be difficult to honor no matter where I go sans the Village. But there would have to still be room, of course. And problem with University Inn is I’m more off campus my first two quarters than I’d prefer. I wish there was a way to see what was available room type wise.

Maybe I’ll harass housing again and see if they can give me some insight into my choice based on my preference. I know they can’t guarantee, but would be nice to have a little more direction :). I’ll report back what I learn if it’s anything of use.

I’m assigned to Crown! :]

Hey, does anyone know what this “UCSC Winter Statement and eBilling” email is about (the one that tells us to sign up on the Sallie Mae website after 11/20)? It says our winter statements will be up on MyUCSC on 11/24, and our payment is due 12/17 by 4pm. Is this all of our fees for the quarter (I think the email mentions registration fees, with no amount)? If so, this might be a problem, because my financial aid won’t be disbursed until 12/28…

[edit] I think it’s just the $300 registration fee listed on the page below, but I could be wrong.

http://reg.ucsc.edu/Fees/fees.html

[edit2] On a side note does anyone know how to allow direct deposit of extra financial aid money into your own bank account? The SBS office website says it’s on MyUCSC, but I can’t seem to find it.

I got the same email and also was worried, because my financial aid also won’t be disbursed until the 28th.

empirescrumble: The December 17th date is the day all of our fees (campus, room and board, course fees, etc) are due. There is an option to set up a payment plan if need be. Sounds like most of us have enough aid we’re getting some back anyways so we shouldn’t need to worry too much about it. Not sure if we have to pay our EFC up front or not, though.

EDIT: Also, continuing UCSC students have already been able to register so they do have fees available for viewing. Since we can’t sign up until December 11 (if we’re going to orientation) or December 14 (if not going to orientation), I imagine the bulk of our fees won’t be posted yet. But we’ll find out on the 24th :)

nate232: My understanding is that if we have financial aid available, we do not have to worry about the portion it covers. None of my aid disperses until December 28 either. Obviously if the bulk of it is grants, we had need for it and thus would not have the money to pay up front for our school bills :)

If you’re worried, you can contact the financial aid department. They are incredibly helpful most of the time. I did have one bad experience, but I complained and have not had any other bad experiences since then.

Anyone else have to send a statement of legal residence?

I faxed them mine, but the “to do list” hasn’t taken the statement of legal residence off the list. I also sent them an email to ask if they’ve received it, and didn’t get a response.

@vodka: I had to send in mine as well. I faxed it and the status changed from required to completed the next day.

I received the housing packet today. For the to do list, ‘Academic Record Needed’ was added today (Due 2/15/2010). I’m assuming that’s our ccc transcript.
