UCSD Academic Changes

Hi all,

I have been admitted to UCSD for Fall 2015.
I meet all of the conditions in the contract, but this. I’m concerned about the changes that I have not reported to them.

I listed one non transferrable course in Winter 2015, but it turns out the class schedule doesn’t work with my other (more important) classes, so I did not take it.
I also listed an English course (also not a requirement - only required by UCB but I was rejected, so I decided to drop it with W since UCB’s decision came out after drop-without-W deadline). However, that English course was only offered in honors in my college, with different title and course number, so I think it can be considered that the course that I listed is not offered.

Do you think my application could be rescinded? Is it too late to notify them about the changes now?

In case you’re wondering, I haven’t notified them because I sillily thought that the changes are not significant and won’t affect my application, without confirming it. Now I’m feeling uneasy about it…

Hmmm, really I don’t think anyone can say. You have one non-transferable that you didn’t take, which is probably OK, all things being equal (although who knows?).

And now there’s an English course you dropped, even though you didn’t need it. I saw someone else up here get rescinded for that very thing (I believe it was Berkeley), dropping a course that was needed for another UC he didn’t SIR to. You definitely should have let them know, but what’s done is done. I think you need to reach out now and let them know. Explain that you thought it was a minor inconvenience, but now you are not sure.

Good luck!

You should have let them know of any changes in your planned classes immediately after you made the changes.

Will this rescind you? Maybe, but probably not, but email them ASAP so that they don’t find a discrepancy between their record and your transcript.

So I just called them right away when they opened today at 9…
The admission officer said it is not a problem at all, as long as the English is not a major requirement and also not violates the minimum transferable units. They don’t even care at all about the non transferrable course.
Thank God! I was so worried all night and now I am so relieved.

Good news! It didn’t work out so well for someone else up here.
